Yoongi hated this-
He hated the person that Jungkook had become in face of tragedy.
He hated that as a beta, and as a member of the pack under Jungkook, he had to follow the kid's orders and maintain his composure all day long.
If he went against Jungkook's decision now, if he argued back in front of other pack members, it would be seen as the Beta challenging Jungkook's authority as the next leader.
Right now, with Namjoon's sudden death, the pack was in chaos, and needed reassurance that everything would work out.
The pack members were looking to Jungkook for guidance, they were hoping for Jungkook to take their hand and walk them through these dark times and out, into stability and peace.
If right now, Yoongi raised questions against Jungkook's ability to lead, not only would it be a huge blow to the pack, it would also ruin what little dignity Jungkook had left in him.
The kid had been holding out on mourning his brother's loss, he had been working day and night trying to settle things down within the pack. And he was trying his hardest to keep the pack's well-being as his top priority.
But-
The matters related to Kim Taehyung, the way Jungkook had approached it, all of it...was wrong.
All the love and respect that Jungkook gave his pack members, that much, and more hatred and loathing Jungkook threw at Taehyung.
This cursed marriage contract, the poor omega agreeing to sign it, and giving Jungkook full control over himself - this wasn't supposed to happen.
Taehyung and all things related to him - it was as if some demon had possessed Jungkook, and he was determined to kill the guy, one way or the other.
If Namjoon were to see the things Jungkook had done, where Taehyung was concerned, he would be so disappointed in his brother.
Yoongi could almost imagine Namjoon's look of disbelief and disapproval, and also his words directed at Yoongi.
"Hyung? How could you let this happen?!"
"How could you let him hurt that omega in such a way?!"
And Yoongi knew he didn't have an answer to it.
Of course, he was in the wrong, since the beginning.
He should have put a stop to the madness, when Jungkook had brought up the topic of contract marriage.
Yoongi should have backed out right then itself.
But he hadn't-
Why?
At the time, Jungkook had stared at him with such hopeful eyes, as if nothing but Yoongi's approval for the contract marriage, and it's preparation, would keep the young alpha from drowning.
Yoongi, when he looked at Jungkook that time, it was as if the kid was hanging by the thread, going through the motion, but not really living. And one word from the beta, in that moment, would have either pulled Jungkook up to his feet or pushed him down the cliff and into the abyss of grief.
Yoongi at the time, didn't have much of a choice. His hands were tied...right?
Jungkook had waited on Yoongi to say yes, and ignored everything else.
The moment Yoongi whispered 'yes', sealing Taehyung's fate along with it, the alpha's eyes came back to life.
The news of Namjoon's death had killed the desire to live, within Jungkook. He only ever looked alive and bouncing with energy when it was something related to Taehyung.
