Jungkook's lips stretched into a smile, and watching it take form on his face, made Jin shiver.
There was no warmth, or joy in that upturn of lips. That expression on Jungkook's face made Jin worry. Who was he thinking about? Who was the smile for? Jungkook's eyes reflected the glow from his phone screen, and for a second, it seemed as if a white flame had lit up within the depths of those dark eyes.
Jin shook his head. What was going on?
If he stared any longer, he was going to drill holes into that device, Jin thought.
What had gotten into him? His little brother-in-law was not himself in that moment.
Not himself, wasn't the correct description. Jin would go as far as to say, Jungkook was a different person all together.
He had adorned a different persona, that was nothing like the Jungkook from their past.
Anger, hatred, and more anger, these were the only emotions that the omega had gotten from Jungkook for the last few days.
Even now, when Jungkook walked in, to meet Jin, those emotions hung over his shoulder like a dark cloud. And there was another thing he had noticed.
A particular scent.
The omega picked out a faint trace of another scent on Jungkook. It was similar to the one Taemin had around him.
Could it be...?
No-
Similar but not the same, he reminded himself.
If Jungkook had met Taemin before, Jin would have known...or maybe not. In their current situation Jungkook and Jin barely got the time to have a decent conversation. Most times, they only managed to exchange brief greetings.
But Jin didn't blamed Jungkook for it.
The two of them were dealing with their load of grief and guilt and anger, in different ways. Jin had yet to come to terms with his husband dying. And he was sure, Jungkook was feeling something similar.
Still, it didn't explain, why Jungkook was acting in such a way. Who was on the receiving end of that text? Who could bring out that kind of dark emotion from this kid? Jin wanted to know.
"Jungkook-"
"Hyung-"
They both started to say something and stopped mid-way.
"You go first." Jin said, giving him a small nod.
"I really need to make this call, hyung. Can I-" He hesitated, and for a second Jin thought he would stay back and talk with him.
But then-
"Please hyung," Jungkook shuffled from one foot to the other, glancing at his phone and then at the door. "Please can I make this call?"
He wasn't interested in talking with Jin right now. And the omega didn't want to force him either. Whoever, was on the other end of this call, the person responsible for bringing that creepy smile on Jungkook's face, Jin was curious to know.
However, now was not the time to bombard Jungkook with his questions. "Sure." Jin said, instead. "Go ahead and make that call. It must be important."
Jungkook was out of the room, the door closing behind Jin, before he finished talking.
"Bye Jungkookie-" The omega whispered into the now empty room.
It was going to be him, and his lonely self, once again, stuck in Namjoonie's room and haunted by his memories-
