He was home.
Taehyung stood in front of their two-bedroom apartment, with his hand raised to knock on the door.
Beyond this wall, his best friend, soulmate, his partner-in-crime from their university days, was waiting for him. Jimin had called him, checked how he was doing, and told him to rush home. Taehyung knew neither of the two could handle the tension surrounding the contract.
On one hand, Taehyung already knew the outcome, and he had still gone ahead and signed those wretched papers. He had signed away his life for good.
And on the other side, Jimin was waiting for Tae's confirmation, on the contract that Jungkook had thrown at his face.
While on the phone, Taehyung had assured his friend that he hadn't signed the contract. But this was Jimin, his somewhat overprotective bestie, and the omega wouldn't believe his lie this easily. Taehyung had to act his part, and make Jimin fall for his lie again in real-time.
He-
Taehyung's phone vibrated with a sharp ding, and the omega pulled it out of his pocket, frowning at its lit up screen.
What the-
"Saturday-"
Whose number-
Before Taehyung could take a random guess on the owner of the message, another notification popped up on his screen.
"I'll pick you up on Saturday, afternoon."
The tiny flame of hope in Taehyung's heart, sputtered and died out the moment he read the new message. He didn't have to guess anymore, who the person was.
Jungkook-
The monster who was hell-bent on ruining his life. Who else but the alpha, sending him messages to remind Taehyung of his fate, and the drastic twist unfolding in his life, while his friends and family remained in the dark.
"Saturday..." Taehyung's eyes burned, as he stared at the text message.
Saturday, just two days from now...two days to say his last goodbyes.
The thought made him wish he could turn back time, to the day when his Hoseokie hyung left for his trip. Taehyung should have driven him to the airport instead, and hugged him as tightly as he could, maybe then Taehyung wouldn't miss him in such a way.
And Jimin...
Taehyung lowered his hand, letting it drop to his side.
Jimin...was going to hate him, now.
He had thought, Jungkook would give him a bit more time, a week at least before they proceeded with the marriage. The alpha had proved him wrong.
Jungkook wanted to separate Taehyung from his current life and friends, anyway he could, and that meant giving him only two days, to ready his mind, soul and heart for what's to come next.
"Jimin-ah.... I'm so sorry-" Taehyung pressed down his lips and closed his eyes, feeling the hot tears spill down his cheeks.
No sound escaped his lips, but his hands and body shook with effort to contain those sobs.
It took Taehyung a good few minutes to calm down, brush away those tears and straighten his back. He raised his hand again-
And was stopped again, by his phone.
