Alasdair Maven Wolfe

"What the fuck were those?!"

- - - -

Rhea and I ran until neither of us were able to breathe. I collapsed on the ground, gasping for breath. I gasped, "What the...What the fuck we...were tho...What the fuck were those?!" Rhea commanded, "Quiet," trying to catch her breath as well.

Rhea explained, "Those are Reapers,' as I continued gasping for breath, as I sat up, looking around our surroundings. We were near a river, and the trees still covered us. Rhea stated, "They're mindless monsters." I began muttering as my mind ran.

"Will they survive?"

Rhea rolled her eyes and began, "Your people wi–" I questioned, "What about food? The dropship doesn't have enough food for all of them long enough for them to survive." Rhea whisper-yelled, "Cut it out!" but I ignored her.

"The other Grounders will find a way in and then there's nowhere to go–" Rhea ordered, "Shut it," as I continued, "They'll all die." Rhea quietly exclaimed, "Jesus, girl!" as I whispered, "What about the dro–" I was cut off by a pair of lips pressing against my mouth.

I froze, not comprehending what was happening and before I knew it, the pair of lips were gone and bright amber-gold eyes stared into my eyes. Rhea whispered, "Shut it. I am trying to think." I quickly nodded my head, continuing to stare at Rhea as she moved away from me.

My eyes trailed over to the arrow wound I had made. Rhea asked, "Why did you grab my arm?" I whispered, "Instinct. It's what I would've done if Roxi was there." Rhea looked at me confused and she asked, "Who's Roxi?"

I explained, "Roxi was my best friend. Y'know the girl who contained me on the bridge?" Rhea nodded her head and I continued, "That was Roxi." Rhea asked, "And where is she now?" I bitterly answered, "Dead. She died in that battle?"

Rhea muttered, "I'm sorry." I shrugged, "Not your fault. The one who killed her is already dead." Rhea looked at me and she asked, "By who?" I answered, "Dunno. He was dead by the time I reached the ground from my spot in the tree. You attacked me right as my feet hit the ground."

Rhea nodded and I whispered, "Where do we go now?" Rhea looked at me and snarled, "There is no 'we'." I stated, "You'll bleed out with that wound," motioning to the arrow in her shoulder.

I stated, "I can help. You have enough fabric for me to make a tourniquet, stop the bleeding, and save your life. Question is, do you want me too?" Rhea looked at me before looking at her shoulder, silently debating it.

After a minute, Rhea took a step towards me and sat down next to me, holding her shoulder out to me. I nodded, and began preparing. I took a hold of part of her shirt and grabbed my knife. Rhea closed her eyes and I sliced my knife through the piece of fabric, careful not to cut her.

Once I got the fabric from her shirt, I wrapped it around her arm, above the arrow sticking out of her arm, and tied it as tightly as I could. I built a fire and lit it, letting the fire build up. I set my knife down next to the fire, letting the fire heat up the metal.

I turned back to Rhea and I commanded, "Don't move, this will hurt a fuck ton." Rhea nodded and I sighed, before ripping the arrow out of her shoulder. She opened her mouth to scream but I covered her mouth with my right hand, muffling her scream as I used my left hand to apply pressure to her shoulder.

I commanded, "Shut it! They'll hear us if you don't!" Rhea nodded and I removed my hand from her mouth, using it to apply more pressure to her shoulder. I looked over my shoulder, looking at my knife as I waited for the metal to turn red.

I grabbed my knife handle and removed it from the fire, holding it in my left hand. Please be hot enough. I looked at Rhea and stated, "This is gonna hurt, sorry." Rhea nodded and I removed my right hand from her shoulder, covering her mouth with it.

I apologised one more, "Sorry," as I pressed the burning knife to her bleeding shoulder. Rhea screamed, her scream muffled by my hand as I smelt burning flesh and heard the sizzling sound of burning flesh.

I pulled my knife off of her shoulder, looking at the wound. Her wound had been cauterised, no longer bleeding. I sighed in relief, dropping my knife onto the ground as I wiped the sweat off of my forehead.

I whispered, "Oh thank you, that worked." Rhea questioned, "It could have failed?!" I looked at her and commanded, "Quiet down!" Rhea shut her mouth and I quietly explained, "I don't think cauterisation can't work, but that was my first time ever cauterising a wound by myself. Clarke or Nate usually help me or instruct me."

Rhea nodded her head in understanding and I whispered, "I'm sorry for that," motioning to the cauterised arrow wound. I looked her in the eyes and asked, "Can you begin explaining, now? Please?" Rhea sighed before beginning.

"It all started with Bek..."
