Chapter 4: unexpected allys and awkward conversations

Yoongi comes in not too long after Jin returns from the bathroom but he stops in front of you when he notices how red and flushed your face is.

"you feeling okay, y/n?" he mumbles to you, quiet enough to not embarrass you. You put on a smile and nod your head.

"It's a little hot in the kitchen, I feel warm. That's all."

He tilts his head at you but doesn't comment on the air conditioning in the apartment.

"Do you need some air? We can go sit on the balcony if you want."

"no no! You spend time with your friends. Honestly I'm okay." You give your brother a quick hug and walk out of the kitchen but a hand on your wrist stops you.

"we'll take care of her hyung." Jimin smiles. You look as confused as Yoongi does by the we until you see Jungkook holding open the balcony door for you.

This cannot go well if the smiles they give you are anything to go by.

"okay, so why did you two drag me out here despite my brother looking at you like he's going to make you tomorrow's dinner?" You question, leaning against the rail and eying the two of them carefully.

"We just want to talk." Jimin says, that sweet smile still on his face but you aren't sure why, you just don't trust it one bit.

"out with it." You say, crossing your arms over your chest. At their confused stares you huff. "you didn't want to talk you want info. What's this about?"

"oh that's creepy." Jungkook laughs, sitting on the little stool they have out there. "she's just like Yoongi hyung!"

"Exactly! She even has his pouty face!" Jimin doubles over in laughter but you just glare at them.

"you have two seconds to speak or I'm going inside." You refuse to pout your lips at how they mock you. They will not get that satisfaction from you.

"okay okay, we were just teasing." Jimin says between laughter.

"What's going on with you and Tae hyung?" Jungkook looks at you with big round eyes and you may have just met him but quickly realizes he uses those to get his way really quickly.

Your mind flashes to the almost kiss.

"Nothing." You lie while your mind recalls the kitchen incident.

"Liar. You're blushing right now! Plus we saw you." Jimin points out, making you mock glare at him.

"Nothing is going on between me and my brothers best friend. If you tell him I will deny it."

"relax, Noona.. we aren't going to tell anyone, We just want to know. Tae hyungie is our best friend, like best best. We've never really seen him openly show interest in anyone like that." Jungkook calms down and speaks to you more seriously.

You rub your arm and look inside from the patio doors where Yoongi is not so subtly talking with Taehyung and Namjoon while also looking out the window right at you.

You turn your body so you aren't so visible, mostly because your brother is not stupid and reading lips is a thing.

"I don't know, honest. I asked to watch him draw and it just... felt to tense. Then in the kitchen, it felt like he was doing it on purpose but I did try to move away he just didn't allow me room."

Jimin smirks but otherwise tries to be more serious.

"look, I've known Taehyungie the longest. He may seem shy and innocent but he knows exactly what he is doing. Taehyung-ah may be a free spirit prone to do things on a whim but when it comes to people? He's more guarded about who he let's close. If he is choosing to let you in, he has his reasons. I just wanted you to know he isn't a bad guy. He's just a lot more sensitive than people ever get the chance to see." Jimin says softly, making you think about his words a little longer than usual.

"we just wanted to pull you aside to say that, if you do decide to get to know hyung more," Jungkook starts, pulling your attention to him. "Yoongi hyung would understand. You may have known him the longest but he doesn't seem like the mean type at all and if you explained it, he'd understand."

You think about Jungkook's words, too.

"I only just met him, but I will keep what you guys said in mind." You push off the balcony and head to the door. "oppa isn't bad, he's just really protective of me and i understand that."

"do you like him, y/n?" Jungkook asks you, stopping you from opening the door. "I saw how you looked at him earlier."

"When i saw Taehyung today.. something inside me.. it sang. I know that sounds crazy, heck it does to me. He makes me nervous and comfortable at the same time and its exhausting trying to figure out why but I just want to talk to him. What makes him tick? What goes on inside of his head."

"You like him." Jimin states as if it's obvious.

"I just met him. Heck, I just met all of you." Jimin rolls his eyes then turns towards you.

"You don't need to know someone to like them. Some people just.. have something that your soul," he points to his heart. "or heart, just feels a pull towards. What makes infatuation even lust turn into love is whether or not you act on that pull and see where it takes you."

You turn back around to face them, sighing softly.

"I'll keep this in mind, I will. I just met him and it's a little soon to be thinking about feelings and- and hearts."

"we're just saying that there's nothing wrong with a little harmless flirting." Jimin bats his eyelashes at you for emphasis which makes you laugh.

"are you just saying that because you want permission to flirt with Yoongi hyung's sister?" Jungkook chimes in, making Jimin's cheeks flush a pretty shade of pink.

"can you blame me? She looks just like hyung but if he had tits and was extroverted."

You swallow your spit wrong at his words, coughing up a lung which makes them both rush over to pat your back.

"I think that was a compliment?" You croak out once you can breathe again.

"Oh, it very much was." Jimin bats those pretty eyes at you again and you smile. You quite like your brother's friends. You can see why he grew so attached to them.

"thank you guys for talking to me. I appreciate it even if you don't know me." You tell them earnestly, making them wave their hands at you.

"Nonsense! Any family of hyung's is family to us too." Jungkook says but realizes his words and cringes at himself. "I mean-"

"I didn't know you were into that sort of thing, Kookie." Jimin pokes fun at him, making him hit Jimin's arm with a blush on his cheeks.

"Don't be gross." He mumbles, eyes staring at the ground as if it suddenly became interesting.

"we should get back inside." You say, pointing behind you with your thumb. They both agree and get up to follow your lead inside.

When you get there, you are fully aware of Yoongi's eyes questioning you from where he stands.

"all good?" he asks you, halting his previous conversation. You nod and shoot him a big Min smile.

"Yes, all good!"

"Good, food is ready."

Oh boy, this should be good.
