Things are too quiet. Yoongi and you are similar in that you aren’t louder than needed and tend to stay out of the way. However, Yoongi is hardly ever home, more than usual.
Sometimes he doesn’t even come home.
You are halfway through another worried thought when you hear a knock on your door.
Clearly it can’t be Yoongi, unless he forgot his key which does happen.
You put your phone down and get up, walking to the door where you swing it open.
“did you forget-“ the words die on your lips when you don’t see Yoongi but see your boyfriend standing there instead. He extends the flowers in his hands towards you, making you the them with a confused expression. “What are these for?”
“The other day might have been my fault because I asked you to come over not knowing hyung would be there and I feel bad that you might be sad because of my error so I got you these to say I’m sorry.” Tae takes a big breath after saying the whole thing with just one breath, making you laugh.
“you are such a dork. Get in here.” You tug him forward with your free hand before going to lose for a vase to put the flowers in, unsure if Yoongi even has a vase. You don’t find one so stick it in a glass pitcher of water for now. Maybe you can buy one tomorrow after work.
“is he home?” Tae starts to look around and you sigh loudly, your shoulders slumping on your way to the sofa.
“No. He hasn’t been home much since that day. I haven’t been able to talk to him or anything.”
Tae looks down at you, still standing beside the couch. He leans over the back of it so his face is closer to yours.
“Whatever happens, you always have me, y/n. I love you.” He says softly, making your heart leap into your throat at hearing the big words. You don’t think it will never stop making your heart race to hear it.
“I love you too, TaeTae.” You smile softly up at him, enjoying the moment as it is.
Tae seems to have other plans.
“dance with me.” He says with a cute yet shy smile. Your eyebrows raise.
“with what music?”
Tae pulls out his phone and taps away on it before music you have never heard before starts to play. It sounds like it’s entirely in English.~a/n: for the song~
Tae comes around the couch and bows to you, offering his hand in a way that makes you laugh at his antics but slide your hand into his anyways.
“what music is this?” you question as his hand finds your waist and the other holds your hand securely.
“One of my favorite artists. His name is Frank Sinatra. I really like how buttery his voice is.” He grins at you before slowly turning the two of you in circles to the beat. Even if you don’t understand a lot of it, you let yourself enjoy the music anyways. If it’s a part of who Tae is, it wouldn’t hurt to give it a shot.
You securely place your other hand on his shoulder before looking up at him shyly. You aren’t very good of a dancer but this whole moment of his is so spontaneous and so romantic yet somehow still very much Tae that it makes your heart thud in your chest.
“what spurred this on?” you raise an eyebrow, letting him twirl you before you both erupt in a fit of giggles and resume dancing to the blusey tune.
“can’t I just want a dance with my lady?” he feigns innocence but then his face turns somber, more serious. “I just really missed you and realized I wanted to make memories outside of the bedroom. I heard the song come on and suddenly wanted to dance. I really wanted to be old fashioned and romantic, bring you flowers and dance like this. I would have brought wine, but you have to work tomorrow.”
Something about Tae that you are still getting used to, is he is very adventurous. His spontaneity is a lot to handle but you like how different he is compared to your technical ex. One moment he might be slow dancing in the kitchen with you then you blink and he wants to take a bus to the middle of nowhere and explore. He lives in the now, in the moment and it's so refreshing.
“What are you thinking about so hard?” he whispers, pulling you out of your musings. You smile softly up at him and stretch to press your lips to his in a kiss as soft as the moment is.
“You.”
“Me? But I’m right here. What are you thinking about?” he grins his boxy grin at you and if your heart could fly away with how fluttery it feels, it probably will.
“I love how in the moment you are. You take life as it is and just continue to make the best out of it. Like today, you just wake up and decide to come slow dance with me in my living room. Tomorrow you might be painting ducks at the park or watching kids play at the park. You’re so- so care free and I love everything about you.”
The moment is surely heavy while you speak but the look in Tae’s eyes as they tear up is worth every second of putting your feelings out there.
“You are the most amazing person I have ever met, y/n. Please don’t change for anyone. I’m glad hyung blessed me by bringing you into my life. I have never been this happy in my whole life.”
The one song turns into 4 and the two of you are still lost in each other’s eyes. The only sounds are your feet against the carpet and Tae softly murmuring whatever song is on. You wish you could freeze the moment forever.
You lean forward and rest your ear over his heart while he hums along to another tune, enjoying the comfortable silence.
“do you think he will hate me?” you whisper sometime later, making Tae tilt your head to look up at him.
“Of course not. You are his little sister, his pride and joy. When we first met him, no matter how quiet he was he would always talk about his little sister and how much he missed her. He loves you, y/n. I think he will understand to accept us in time.” You nod at his words but you still can’t help the worry.
“I just don’t know what I would do if he hated me for this.” You whisper, feeling choked up.
“I would never hate you, y/n.” you hear behind you, making you jump so strongly it makes you scream.
You place your hand on your heart and try to calm down as you whip around to the voice. Yoongi is standing in the entryway of the living room with his bag slung across his shoulders. How long has he been standing there?
“Hyung!” Tae flusters, quickly looking for his phone to turn off the music. “How long have you been standing there?”
“long enough.” He states firmly, making your hands sweat in nerves. Just how much did he hear?
“Yoonie-“ you start but get so choked up you can’t even begin to finish it. You feel so scared of hurting him that you don’t even know how to start.
“save it, y/n. It’s pretty obvious what’s been going on.” Yoongi takes his bag off, setting it on the couch before walking into the kitchen. You feel the tears well up in your eyes as you stay rooted to the spot. What do you do?
Tae nudges you softly, pulling you to reality. He motions to the kitchen with his chin and you nod slowly before following Yoongi to the kitchen.
“Yoonie..” you whisper, the tears making your vision blurry. Yoongi is leaning on the counter, a glass of water in his hand. He doesn’t say anything for a long while, his back to you. “please say something.”
“how long?” he says softly, hand tightening on the glass of water before he sets it down and turns to face you. His expression is unreadable, that’s the part that always worries you. Yoongi always has a calm exterior so guessing how he’s feeling is rough. “How long have you been fucking my best friend?”
You flinch at his wording but you suppose you deserve it after all.
“We fought it at first because we- we didn’t want to hurt you and I wasn’t ready. Then the party happened and things escalated so fast and we couldn’t deny how we felt anymore. Yoongi please trust me that I never meant to hurt you. I really didn’t mean to.” You can feel the tears slipping down your cheeks on their own as you wait for him to react, get mad, yell—something.
“his hoodie that day..” he mumbles to himself but you heard it loud and clear. His eyes turn to you suddenly, making you flinch. Seeing you flinch, his face finally reacts, a frown creasing his brow. “y/n.. I’m not going to hit you.”
“I know.” You whisper, downcasting your eyes quickly. “I don’t like the thought of you hurting because of me or being mad at me.”
Yoongi sighs, long and heavy before running jis fingers through his hair.
“I wish you had told me. I’m your brother. I hate that you felt you couldn’t talk to me about anything. We’re a family, the only family we have left.” Yoongi waits until you look up at him before he continues. “I love you, y/n. I want what’s best for you, always. If that is him then..”
He sighs once more as if the words hurt to say.
“I guess I can try to get used to it.”
He gave in? Just like that? You look at Yoongi, narrowing your eyes but let it go. Something he isn’t saying, that much you can see on his face.
Yoongi walks past you and into the living room, making you hurry after him. He marches up to a nervous Tae, fidgeting by the window.
“You.” Yoongi points a finger, looking as intimidating as he possibly can for his height. It must work because Tae looks genuinely afraid. “If you ever hurt her I will rip every last of your paintings to pieces and use them to decorate your tombstone. Got it?”
Tae gulps and nods his head, looking to you for help but you are too busy studying Yoongi.
“Why aren’t you more surprised by this? Where is the shock, the anger, the- the grouchy Yoongi I expected? How are you so calm?” You narrow your eyes as he turns to you with… a smile?
“I knew about the two of you a long time ago, I just waited for the two of you to tell me.” At your look of confusion, he sits on the couch and gets comfortable before elaborating. “his hoodie, shoes and car was here already the day you texted him to take me to work.”
Yoongi holds up one finger. Then another.
“the party in question, you weren’t in the room you fell asleep in and Jin had already complained about someone having loud sex and keeping him up. Since you were the only girl and no one else does that sort of thing with each other, I knew you were with someone but it wasn’t until I noticed Tae had the tights and clothing of yours that I bought you for Christmas last year that I knew who it was.”
You frown, were you really that stupid?
“He’s always over here. Tae never came over this much before you got here.” Another finger.
“also, Jungkook let it slip the other day at Jin’s long before the two of you came out covered in Hickeys.” The 4th finger, making you hang your head in shame. “you two were about as subtle as Namjoon is about breaking things.”
“So you aren’t mad?” you peer at him and he just shrugs.
“You’re an adult. I’m not mom or dad. Date whomever you want but don’t hurt my best friend and don’t hurt my sister or I’ll kill you, Tae. If it gets awkward between the two of you if you split, I’ll kill you both.” Yoongi laughs so hard his shoulder shakes when Tae looks scared again. “Relax. Just don’t hurt my sister and you’ll be fine.”
At your look he pats your knee.
“It took me awhile to get over my initial anger. I talked it out with Namjoon and he helped me see that you are your own person, y/n. You both are. I have no say in who you date. I just don’t want you to get hurt.”
Yoongi gets up grabbing his bag to head to his room but he pauses in the hallway.
“oh, and no fucking on the couch.” He starts to walk again before stopping. “or my room. Or the kitchen. You know what? Just don’t have sex outside your room. And keep it quiet.”
He disappears and neither of you talk for so long until finally Tae whistles.
“so did he really give us the okay to have sex anytime we wanted?”
You throw a couch pillow at him.

“So you aren’t gonna kill Tae?” Jimin asks Yoongi.
It’s been a few weeks since the talk and between Tae’s deadlines and your working as much as possible, you really haven’t had much time for each other.
Tonight is your big first official public date with Taehyung and everyone wanted to help. Which brings to everyone gathering at Tae’s apartment.
All he told you is to dress fancy and wear comfortable shoes.
You step out of the bathroom with Hoseok and Jin, who wanted to try to do your hair. Jimin had done your makeup and was currently leaning on the wall, watching to make sure the two boys didn’t ruin your hair too terribly.
“nah, I had time to think it over. You guys really helped me see that I can’t control her or else I would be as bad as my parents.” Yoongi takes a sip of his coffee, watching as you slide your feet into your shoes.
Taehyung was currently waiting by the car so you could get ready.
Your eyes meet your brothers and he smiles warmly at you.
“You look beautiful.” He says softly, just loud enough so you can hear and you feel your eyes wanting to water at how happy you are.
Life could never have turned out better for you.
