Difficult Decisions

Chapter 14

Kayn opened his eyes slowly, the beams of the sun making him close them again. He felt the cold breeze against his bare chest and realized he was still outside. He was laying against something soft, turning to see he was on sonas chest. His eyes widened and he immediately backed away from her, he looked up at the sun and assumed it was afternoon. He cursed at himself before looking back at the sleeping mage. He shook her awake, feeling annoyed. Rhaast was chuckling, knowing that Akali was awake and wondering where he was. How was he going to explain that he was sleeping on Sonas chest all night. Sona yawned and rubbed her eyes as she got up, she looked up at Kayn and smiled, "good morning" she said happily, completely ignoring the fact that they slept there all night together. Kayn didn't respond and started to walk away, he just wanted her awake so he can leave. "Wait Kayn!" Sona called out, struggling to hurry and get up.

'Why don't you stop for the pretty lady' rhaast teased. "Shut up rhaast" Kayn replied grumpily. He wanted to go home to his girlfriend, who was probably worried and confused. Sona caught up to him and held his arm to restrict any further movement, she was panting from running the little bit of distance. Kayn groaned out and turned around, annoyed that he was once again being held up from going home, "what Sona" he asked, his voice laced with frustration. The said female hesitated on what to do next, it was clear that he was very angry at the moment and didn't want to push him any further, but she also didn't want him going to that assassin. "Can you stay with me for a little longer... please?" She said softly, hugging his arm closer to her chest. 'She obviously doesn't want to be alone, stay with her for a bit' rhaast remarked chuckling. Kayn rolled his eyes, "I'll walk you home and that's it, hurry up" he replied sourly. Sona nodded, a sly smile hidden on her face.

Akali on the other hand woke up completely alone, she searched the whole house for Kayn and couldn't find him. At first she thought he had a quick errand to run and would be back but it's been 5 hours since she woke up this morning and he still wasn't home. She was starting to get worried, what if something happened to him? She knows he took his scythe but that didn't ease her mind in the slightest. She honestly didn't know what to do, so she decided to just sit on the couch and eat some ramen till Kayn came back. She finished her meal and put her bowl away into the sink, she stretched and was going to lay back onto the couch until she felt someone standing behind her. Her eyes widened as she quickly turned around to see the person she hated the most, Zed. She had left her weapons in kayns room, but rage fueled her to the point where she felt like she can take him on by hand. "Akali.." Zed muttered out, without a second thought, the said girl threw a punch his way. Only for Zed to appear behind her again, this time grabbing her by her arms.

She cursed and tried escaping his grasps but his hold on her was too tight. "What do you want from me" she spat out, venom laced in her voice. Zed stared at her with cold red eyes, no emotion shown, "join me, join the shadow order" he replied stoically. Akali stared at him dumbfounded. "What did you just ask me?" She responded in disbelief, did he really expect her to join him? He trapped her between the wall, with his other hand, he gently held her chin so she can look up at him. She struggled yo get out of his grip, hoping Kayn would walk through the door. "I'll let you stay with Kayn, I know you two are dating" he replied, a dark chuckle escaping his lips when akalis eyes widened at his name. "How do you know Kayn!?" She shouted out angrily. Zed was amused, he hasn't told her a thing yet. "He's apart of the shadow order, he's my student and he's my most loyal of them all" Zed replied, moving his hand to caress the girls cheek. Akali stayed silent , disbelief and hurt shown clear in her eyes. She couldn't believe she'd been fooled into falling in love with the man who was working with her biggest enemy.

"So akali, have you decided?" Zed asked, moving the girls head to look into his eyes. She stayed silent, a million thoughts and emotions hit her and she didn't know what to say. Zed sighed, letting the girl go, "I'll come back for your answer, I'll give you time to think and process what I said" he said, watching the girl slowly sink to the floor. He then disappeared, leaving only a shadow behind. Akali was numb, how could she be so stupid to let someone hurt her again. Tears pricked her eyes even though she tried her hardest to keep them in. Her heart felt like it would burst out her chest from the pain she felt. She slowly got up and made her way to the couch again, the tears finally made their way down her face. She couldn't help but cry, she felt stupid and embarrassed. The shock she felt when Zed told her about Kayn made her unable to move, unable to fight back. She could've died if he really wanted to kill her. She took a deep breath, recollecting herself. She loved him so much, and she has never, ever lied to him, all she wanted was the same in return.

An hour passed and Akali heard the nob move on the front door. She didn't look up, she didn't react, she didn't say anything when Kayn walked through the door. "Akali! I'm so so sorry I was gone all day" Kayn rushed out, immediately going to hug the girl. She pushed him away, staring at him with eyes filled with so much hatred, betrayal, and the most noticeable, sadness. Kayn stopped dead in his tracks, "What's wrong? I'm sorry I can explain where I was" he said worried. Akali motioned for him to continue, to explain where he has been. "Well I went on a walk yesterday night because I couldn't sleep" he started off. Akali furrowed her brows, "you were gone since last night?" She scoffed out in disbelief. Kayn gulped and grabbed her hands, "I swear it was an accident, I accidentally fell asleep when I was at the pond i took you too cause Sona started singing and-" akali stopped him once she heard that name. She sighed out in disappointment, "so you slept with Sona , all alone, all night" she replied slowly. "It took you 7 hours to get home when I woke up" Kayn felt like shit, he knew what he did was wrong. "What were you doing all day?" She asked, Kayn knew she was going to be upset and he was going to try everything to make it up to her. "I woke up and... I had to walk Sona home ..." he replied lowly, knowing how bad that sounded. He felt like punching himself, he knew what happened in akalis last relationship and he's making her feel the same about him. Akali didn't say anything, she just stood up and slapped him in the face. He stood there, shocked with wide eyes, tears were falling down akalis beautiful face and his heart dropped. "First you lie to me, and then your out with another woman!?" Akali yelled out. "Lied to you about what?" Kayn asked, both in shock and confusion. "You knew I hated Zed, yet your his number one ally and his student?" Akali choked out, her voice cracking as she was on the verge of breaking down. Kayn felt his soul leave his body, how did she find out? What happened here when he was gone. Akali noticed the look of pure shock on his face, "Zed stopped by an hour ago, had me pinned to the wall trying to convince me to join your stupid order" she sniffed out, venom laced in her voice. "He told me all about you and him" she finished off.

"My love , please let me explain" Kayn cried out. This wasn't supposed to happen, he's going to lose the one person he loved the most and it was all his fault. Tears fell down his face, he knew he was wrong. "Please don't leave me... I love you" he cried out, grabbing her to hug her tight. Akalis heart broke, she couldn't cave in , she can't. She broke down after those words , becoming a sobbing mess. Kayn sat her on the couch, hugging her as tight as he can , not wanting to let go. "I'm so sorry my love, I'm so sorry" he whispered to her, trying his best to console the girl he hurt. Akali pushed him away, "let me go, I'm leaving" she cried out, running into his room to grab her weapons and bolting out. "Akali! Wait!" Kayn called out after her. He ran after the girl but soon lost her trail. "Fuck" he cursed out repeatedly, more tears spilling. Rhaast was surprisingly silent throughout all of this, he was enjoying the fact that Kayn had fucked up his chances with that girl, she only got in the way with his plans to take over kayns body. Kayn begrudgingly walked back to his house, he fell onto his bed and let all the tears escape, he broke down crying, which is something he has never done before. He loved akali with every inch of his heart and he destroyed her. He wiped his tears and got up, he needed to find her. He will set everything right, no matter what he has to do.
