M/n pov:

It was the week before spring break. I was moving to some shithole town in Indiana. I think it was called Hawkins. I'm in middle school in 8th grade. My name is m/n. We are moving because my dad wants to expand his company. We are rich, somewhat. We live in a~ well, a shithole house in a shithole town in a shithole state, yeah!!! Moving sucks cuz I have barely any friends to stay in contact with. I wonder how long until our next move. I hope it's soon.

before road trip

"It is almost the end of the year, so why not wait?" I argued with my parents, not wanting to leave New York yet.

"I am very sorry son, I wish we could, but the offer I just got is not open and on the table for long." dad argued back calmly, a bit shocked by my sudden outburst. I've always been a quiet and good kid that never really argued back about anything. But I admit, I was a bit mad cuz I had more friends here than I did anywhere else, and I knew they were real friends cuz none of them knew about my dad or the amount of money we had. Not only that, the original plan was the expand somewhere in France or maybe in Spain. Then again, my luck was terrible. Not only were they the top 2 places I wanted to see, and one of my closest friends lives in Spain. Anyways back to the argument.

"Look if this goes well, we can leave in less than 6 months. In such a small town a big company like this one will be great for their community, but I need your corporation." He says as he goes back to packing his stuff.

"But you and mom said we could go to France or Spain!" I yelled back in frustration.

"And we will ok." he sighs and looks at mom for some type of support. She turns to me and starts her sentence.

"We will love, just not now alright kiddo." My mother said in a soothing/calm voice that oddly enough calmed my anger. My mother is an amazing cook. She was making some food and snacks to take on the road. I loved my mom's fettuccine alfredo pasta, homemade style ofc. She was a first-class chef certified by her Culinary arts school {cooking school}.

I grumbled a bit at my mother's response. She placed a plate of fettuccine alfredo pasta that she had previously made not too long ago 'for the trip' in front of me. It was still warm and as good as ever.

"You done?" She asked as I nodded. She took the plate and began to wash it. "Go lay down. I'll finish up in here and pack the rest of your stuff" I nodded and walked off to my bedroom without saying a word.

'My last night in this room, how depressing.' I thought to myself, wondering who I'd meet and imagining my new life in Hawkins. "Might as well try to make the best of thing?" I said softly, drifting off into a seemingly endless and wonderful dream-like state, letting the darkness engulf my body.

Next morning

My mother and father shook me lightly as I shifted from the uncomfortableness of someone rudely interrupting my dream. when I woke up breakfast was waiting on the table they told me to get ready because we were leaving in 20 min. when I checked my clock it was 2:49 am. It was so early that I groaned.

"It's 2 in the morning. Why are we leaving so early." I asked as I dragged my feet across the cold floor to the kitchen. I started eating, waiting for an answer.

"Son." My father started. "it is about a 12-hour drive non-stop. we are going to leave early in hopes we get there in 1 and a half days, at the latest 2 and a half days." he finished.

"That's right sweetie, so make sure you use the bathroom before we leave." my mother said.

Time skip

We just arrived at the new house. Tbh it's not as bad as I thought it would be. I grabbed a hand full of money and then left to explore the new place that was supposed to be shitty, But I was wrong. It was sort of dirty and filled with a bunch of weirdos. Other than that, it was nicer than I imagined, a lot nicer.

I Wondered around a bit. I walked into random stores just taking it all in. Trying to remember things is hard when exploring a new area. I was trying to remember the streets so I wouldn't get lost. I got lost anyway.

Wondered around for a while in hopes I'd remember something. As I continued to aimlessly walk into deadens. I finally reached a trailer park. I wanted to live in a portable house someday, just roaming. Wondering where I'd go or end up.

I need to call my mom or dad to come to find me. I tripped over something(i think a rock) and bumped into someone. Whoever it was had a back made of steel cuz my face hurts. I looked up to see who it was. He had short hair and a very punkish look to him. I was just a tad bit scared but whatever. I flipped the pad open to the first page (The one my father gave me for my birthday, so I didn't have to talk). I started to write the word sorry. I push the pad out into the air to show this mysterious person in front of me. When I looked over the pad I heard a faint chuckle.

"It's fine, no worries," he said

But the way the sun hit his facial features, gave him a bit of a glow. His skin now lit up by the sun looks soft. His sort of pale skin is now golden from the rays of the sun. The skies are somewhat cloudier than before as if it were to rain soon. The winds started to pick up. Sun is now covered by an overdraft of clouds. It was sure to rain soon, I needed to get home soon. The smell of rain is so strong. It overpowered any other smell in the area. I looked up at the man in front of me with pleading eyes as I began to write once again. Showing him the pad yet again, only this time to ask if he had a phone I could use to call my parents.

"yeah, but before I take a stranger into my humble little abode. My name is Eddie. Eddie Munson, and yours?" he asked me now putting a name to his face. I started to write. When I finished I showed him.

"M/n L/N, huh quite a cute name," He said with a sly smirk flirting a bit. Ngl it was kinda cute.
