Chapter 1

As I, Caitlyn Monroe, decided what to wear, my cocker spaniel, Pepper, ran around my legs. "Get away Pep. I'm trying to decide what to wear." I said frustratedly.

Yes, it was important on what I wore today. It was February 14th. Of course it mattered. There will be a Valentine's dance at the end of school today.

My boyfriend, Tyler Parks, will be taking me to the dance. Tyler Parks is considered one of the hottest boys in school. I should be lucky I'm even dating him.

I'm a normal 16-year-old girl born and raised in Seattle, USA. I go to North Hill High School. It would be my last 2 years there before I go to a university or a college. I still haven't decided.

In school, I would be considered as a popular student. I would always be the one setting trends, and having people follow me wherever she goes.

Of course, in return, I would always have my #1 enemy. Holly Smith. Holly, or "Hollister" as her friends call her, is also another popular student in North Hill High.

Holly's best friend, Lydia Jones, is the exact same as Holly. They would dress the same, and act the same.

In the end, I decided to wear a long t-shirt that says "SWAG" With orange and white stripes as a background and black tight leggings. I put on my black vans and ran down the stairs. "Good morning mom. Good morning dad." I said while grabbing piece of toast of my plate.

"Good morning honey. Eat your breakfast. As they say, breakfast is the most important meal of the day!" My mom said. My mom, Abigail Monroe, is a nurse and my dad, Derek Monroe, is a cop.

My brother, Carter came bouncing in. "Good morning people!" He said. He was pretty loud for a 14-year-old boy.

"Quiet down, Carter. You don't want to wake up the whole neighborhood now, do you?" Derek chuckled.

"Well, I'm off to school." I said grabbing her bag and keys. "I'll be home late today. There's that dance going on." "Ok. Just don't come home too late." Her mom said.

After I walked out of my driveway. I scrolled through my iPod's playlist. I decide to listen to "I Knew You Were Trouble" by Taylor Swift.

"Hey!" Her BFF popped up behind me. "Oh. Hi Sky. How's life?" I asked my friend, Skylar Scott.

Skylar Scott is my best friend since kindergarten. Skylar is exactly 2 months older than me with the birthday of April 23rd.

We walked to school in a comfortable silence. When we reached the front door of the school, Skylar said,"I'll see you at lunch!" as she ran to find her locker.

I went to find my locker and did my combination. 23-56-13. I shoved all my books into the locker and got ready for first period.

I turned around, looking for Tyler. When I found him, I saw him flirting with one of the cheerleaders. I am popular, but I wouldn't be caught wearing those super short skirts like cheerleaders do.

"Don't worry about him. He'll come running back. They all do." I turned around and saw Isabelle. She's also anther one of close friends.

"I don't know. He seems to be paying more attention to Holly the to me lately." I said leaning against my locker.

"Well, I gotta go to class now. And besides, isn't he taking you to the valentine's dance? Don't worry about it." She said walking away.

Why does no one understand?! Tyler might break up with me and go to one of those cheerleaders. Or worse, HOLLY. I walked to my class glumly. Wow. What a great start on valentine's day.
