It was maybe five days after the performance, me and Amity were cuddling close on her couch and Mandarin was playing loudly in her bedroom.
Leaning towards me Amity kisses my neck, a smile bright on her face that I could feel. She freezes and quickly stands up, making her way quickly to the bathroom I hear her cough before the sound of liquid comes from her mouth.
I damn near jogged as I went to the bathroom, I rest my hand on her back after pulling her hair away from her face. Her pale skin seemed to go whiter as her back heaved, I closed my eyes before whatever remained of her lunch exited her body through the mouth. She groaned as her body sagged, the toilet paper roll spins before my ears pick up the sound of her spitting into it.The toilet flushes but Amity stays there on the ground, nervous to move. Reaching underneath her I lift her up into my arms, "are you okay? Did you eat something bad?" I begin to ask worriedly, she looks into my eyes and frowns "yes and no.. I just felt sick."
I rest my hand on her forehead, then to the point between her neck and jaw. "you're flushed and warm.. I think a stomach bug is going around." Kissing her forehead she mumbles a noise, her reactions seeming queasy. Setting her on a kitchen stool I pull out some saltines and get a glass of water, "small sips.. if you don't flush the stomach acid out of your throat your body will deny food and water for easily three days."
She brings the glass to her lips, her throat rising and falling as she sips the clear liquid down.Handing her a cracker she nibbles on it hesitantly, I pull hair out and away from her eyes with a small smile.
With glass half empty and ten saltines missing she heads into her room, I put away the crackers and join her. Reaching into my bag I pull out a lemon menthol cough drop, handing it to her she raises an eyebrow "it'll open up your throat and make you feel better."
Slowly unwrapping it she grimaces at the cough drop before setting it on her tongue, sitting on a small rolling stool in front of her I rest my hands on her knees. She brushes my freshly cut hair away from my eyes, her fingertips stopping at my temple."How about we take the weekend off, hm? We could visit your mom.. or my moms in fact. Or we could just go to the beach." I offer with a smile, trying to keep her mind off her queasiness.
She nods gently, " I do miss mom, Camilla and Eda." Mandarin jumps on Amity's lap and sniffs at her shirt before rubbing into her stomach, purring loudly at her. She chuckles at his loving demeanor, lifting him up she pulls his vest on.
We went to Blight manor first, a butler opened the door with a smile and ushered us inside. Odalia claps with a squeal to the sight of her daughter, hugging her closely.
She pauses with an extended curious 'mmh'
"Amity have you been eating enough? You're all flushed-" she nods with a smile, her mother looks at her skeptically.
Then turns to me, "Luz! How wonderful to see you! How're you dealing with being Amity's girlfriend's roommate?"The air seems to pause, "funny you say that Odalia.. me and Amity are together now."
She lights up at my response, like a fangirl who's ship came true.
Amity excuses herself and heads for the kitchen, Odalia turns to me. "How long has she been acting sick?" I look down at the slightly short woman "just since this morning but, I don't know how long truly because we don't live together." She calls someone down from upstairs, a girl possibly in sophomore year of highschool runs down the stairs. "This is my neice Viran, Luz. Vin please keep Luz company while I go chat with your cousin."They? look at me skeptically, "so.. what um. Why are you living with Odalia?" I ask awkwardly, viran pulls their dyed purple hair away from their eyes, their vivid unnatural electric blue eyes looking at me past thin eyeliner and mascara.
"My dad got sick of my 'gay phase' and booted me, I don't why.. I still go by she/her. I just want a masculine voice and a flat chest."
I almost laugh, she glares daggers at me "well- you're going to love Odalia trust me. I'm nonbinary myself and just got on testosterone two months ago, I don't see her hating on me." Viran stops short at pulling her hair away from her eyes again, "oh- I thought you were Amity's boyfriend." I shake my head gently with a smile.
