It had gotten much darker out now and the weather was breezy, causing chills to run down my legs.I went to the same town park which was located right across a Catholic Church, I would always come to this park. It was usually quiet at this time and I would go into the playground and sit on the swing.
I liked going on the swing, it felt so good to have the wind blowing in my face and my hair getting everywhere, although that was sometimes annoying.
The town during this time was so quiet for only seven thirty pm probably because it was a suburban neighborhood with parents that made their kids go to bed at 7pm.
I take out my phone and play my music playlist, while I rode on the swing. I kicked my feet back and forth to make myself go more higher, I had planned on jumping off but then remembered what happened the last time I tried it.
I fell and broke my arm.
But that was a long time ago, I'm more steady now. I wait for the perfect chance to jump off and when I'm moved forward, I take this as my chance to jump.
I fell down again.
"Ow." I groaned, dusting off my butt. I look down to see a scrape on my knee.
Maybe I should've learned from the first time. Whatever, I left the park and walked a different direction.
Usually I always turned left when I went on these walks but I was feeling spontaneous tonight and walked right, into a dark alley.
Some cars drive by here and there, as I walked under a small bridge. If it wasn't for The street lights it would be pitch dark out here.
I walked and stepped over the cracks on the side walk because it would bother me if I ever did. I walked a little more before I saw something ahead of me.
It was a little further away so I couldn't see much but I saw a tall man in the distance, he was walking back and forth before he took a seat on the side of the side walk. Something was clutched into his hand as he ran his fingers through his hair with the other.
Maybe it's a hobo.
I hoped he wouldn't ask me for money when I walked past because I don't have a single penny on me.
As I walk closer, I turn my head and stare onto the ground to not make eye contact with the man. Maybe if I pretend I don't see him, he won't see me.
But whenever I tell my self not to do something, I do it. I just can't help myself. I glanced at the man who was not even looking at me, I could've made it past him if I just ran. But I didn't.
I stopped right in front of him and stood right there. His head was facing the ground, I don't think he even knew I was standing here.
Maybe he's on drugs or something.
"Hi" I said but he doesn't look up. I look around and clear my throat.
"Hi!" I said a little louder this time, he picks his head up and makes direct eye contact with me.
Woah.
If he was a hobo, he did not look like one. Even if he was a hobo, I think I might have a thing for hobos because damn.
His eyes appeared to be a dark grey color but they were probably just dark blue. His expression gave nothing away about what he was feeling and his dark hair was perfectly messy.
"Hi, again." I said lowly now that he was actually staring at me.
He stayed silent and watched me as I looked both ways of the street before walking to his side of the side walk.
"Are you okay?" I asked looking down at him, although he doesn't look at me this time.
"Do I look okay?" He grunts as he stands up, and I step back so that I could see him without breaking my neck to look up.
He hadn't turned over so his back was facing me but he was ginormous, he was really tall and he was only wearing a short sleeved shirt and some long pants.
Wasn't he cold?
"Well no, not really." I look down to the ground, realizing I'm stepping on a crack and I quickly move to step on the middle of one of the squares.
"Then there's your answer." His voice of tone was deep and had a pinch of attitude.
But I'll let that slide..
He finally turns around and This time I do look up to see his face. He stared down at me and I mean like stared all the way down, I caught him looking at my head to my shoes.
I then move my eyes to his hand and see a gun, it appeared small in his hand but it was a gun alright.
"Uhm what are you doing here alone?" I move my eyes away from the gun in his hand.
"Why do you care" He responded too quickly.
"I was just asking, Jeez." I say taken back by his rudeness.
"You know, it's not safe to be in the middle of no where especially alone at night. It's dangerous." I said matter of a fact.
"Then why are you here?" He asks even though I was talking about him not me.
"Oh you know, just.. exercising. Getting my steps in." I lied, trying to make it seem like I was out for a purpose.
"Anyway, enough about me. How about I walk you home. I'll make sure you get home safely." I offered with a small smile.
He raises a brow and I notice him clench the gun a bit tighter.
"You? Want to walk me home?" He asks."Yep, that's what i said." I nodded, the awkward silence setting in.
"So this way?" I walk around him and start walking.
He nods and silently walks besides me. I start following him and the walk starts off silently, he was a man of a few words apparently.
"So why are you carrying around a gun?" I asked, side glancing him.
I hoped he wasn't bothered by the questions and then shoots me, I was just simply asking a question.
"Because I can." He responds and I nod.
"Ok.." I said, he is definitely on drugs.
"Your legs bleeding." He suddenly said without even looking at me.
I look down and sure enough my leg was bleeding. Stupid swing making me bleed.
"Oh yeah, it's nothing. Just a little scrape from all the fighting I've been doing." I lie again but this time to make myself look cool.
Even though internally i was trying to keep in my cries because the scrape was stinging . It wasn't a lot of blood but definitely noticeable.
"I'm Thalia by the way." I think I forgot to even introduce myself, my bad.
"What's your name?" I ask, tilting my head to look at him.
I watch him take a deep breath and his brows narrow a little bit. Wow, this guy has perfect eye brows.
"Heath." He finally tells me and I smile that I finally got him to answer a question.
