Chapter 2

Hollykit leaped onto Hawkkit and pounced on him, pinning him down, she then bit his ear making him wince in pain, "MAMA! HELP!" he cried out, Mousewhisker had her eyes widened as she heard her kits cry, she dashed through the clearing and quickly got inside the entrance of the nursery, "Hawkkit!" she exclaimed and snarled at Hollykit, she padded closer to the she-kit and hissed at her which made her gulp 'did I do something wrong?' she thought, the she-cat then unsheathed her claws in anger, "GET OFF OF MY KIT!" she yelled, and Hollykit jumped, quickly letting him go, and she rushed to the corner, terrified, Mousewhisker then sighed, trying to calm herself down and she sheathed her claws, "Hollykit, why did you attack Hawkkit?" the she-cat said in a soft-tone, which made Hollykit less terrified of her "I wasn't attacking him! we were just playing!" Hollykit exclaimed, she wasn't sure if Mousewhisker believed her or not, but she hoped she did "you should know that you shouldn't be playing with kits like him when you are almost an apprentice." Mousewhisker hissed, but she still had her soft-tone "But Rosekit doesn't want to play, and Cinderkit doesn't know how to fight well! I don't want to hurt her.." Hollykit snarled at her, but she mumbled at the last sentence.

"So you don't want to hurt Cinderkit, but you want to hurt Hawkkit?!" Mousewhisker's soft-tone was gone, her voice had became harsh, which made Hollykit's eyes widened in fear "H-he asked me to play with him..." she murmured, but Mousewhisker could still hear her voice "WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY NO?! DID YOU WANT TO MAKE YOURSELF LOOK STRONG?!" her claws were unsheathed again, Hollykit started to shed tears, but she tried to hold it back in, "I-I tried but he begged..." she stuttered at every word she said, Mousewhisker then growled and she picked her kit up by the scruff, and she left.

Hollykit started to shed tears, but this time she couldn't hold it, she tried to wipe it off but more came out, Cinderkit then walked in the den and saw Hollykit sobbing, she started to frown and she padded to Hollykit, sitting down next to her, Hollykit turned her head away from her sister, but she knew Cinderkit would find out "are you okay?" Cinderkit said, worried, Hollykit sniffed and wiped her tears "I'm fine." she muttered "Mousewhisker just made me sad." she hissed in anger, Cinderkit wrapped her paws around her sister, hugging her, Hollykit smiled and hugged back, they both let go and Cinderkit exclaimed, "wanna talk to Birdpaw again?" she asked, Hollykit nodded, they then trot out of the nursery, but stopped when they got out.

Hollykit took a sniff and smelt something weird, she didn't know how to describe it, she turns her head to her sister nervously, Cinderkit crouched down and slowly walked behind her sister so she could hide herself, Hollykit raised one eyebrow as she felt it coming closer "hide in the nursery! I will check it out." she told Cinderkit, who nodded and darted to the nursery in fear, Hollykit started to sweat as the smell was closer, her heart was beating extremely fast, she felt as if she could panic and hide inside the nursery, but she couldn't, she has to protect her sister, she puffed her chest out to try to show confidence, she unsheathed her tiny claws, getting ready to strike, the thing fell down and rolled downhill, she then struck, pouncing it and shoving her paw on its face.

Hollykit caught a glimpse of what it looked like, 'a dark gray cat... really tall... wait a minute!' the sun captured the cat, and she was confused when she found out who it was, "Birdpaw? Why are you almost covered in mud?" she tilted her in confusion, Cinderkit slowly walked out of the den, taking a glance at Birdpaw "I-I tripped and fell into a puddle of mud while training..." Birdpaw said, he looked embarrassed and nervous, Hollykit snorted a bit and she chuckled, Cinderkit giggled a bit, Hollykit stopped and said "what did you learn today?" she said with an excited tone, Birdpaw sighed and smiled.

"Well... We were learning some battle moves--" Birdpaw was pounced down by Fuzzypaw, they both rolled to the apprentices den which made Hollykit cackle, the black-and-white she-kit sweated, and darted to the apprentices den, Hollykit's laugh faded, she flicked her ear and tilted her head in curiosity, she stood up, and slowly padded to the apprentices den, as she got in, she took a breath of cold, and stale air from the apprentices den, she would gag, but she would amble deeper into the den, she felt as if she would pass out from this horrible smell, she spotted the three cats but backed away when she had realized the smell was from Birdpaw's half-brother, Fuzzypaw, Fuzzypaw playfully bit Birdpaw's ear, Birdpaw shoved his paws onto Fuzzypaw's chest, trying to get up, "Get off me you stupid flea-brain!" he snarled, kicking Fuzzypaw off of him, Fuzzypaw backed away, his gaze turned to the two kits, who were next to eachother, "Do you ever groom?" Hollykit snarled, Fuzzypaw giggled a bit, "I do, but while me and Birdpaw were hunting, the furball tripped and splashed into a puddle of mud, some splashed onto me, so I did this for revenge." he uttered, Hollypaw glanced at Birdpaw, who looked as if his pelt was red hot with embarrassment.

The gray she-kit giggled, while Cinderkit snorted, the tom ducked his head down in embarrassment, Fuzzypaw nudged him "c'mon, Thrushthicket is going to rip our pelts off if we don't come to the patrol.", Fuzzypaw trotted out of the den, while Birdpaw grabbed the two kits by the scruff, padded out of the den, and he set the two down.

Hollykit took a deep breath of the fresh air, and she sighed in relief, "finally, the apprentices den smelt so bad!" she said to her sister, Cinderkit giggled and her gaze turned to Hawkkit biting Mousewhisker's tail, Hollykit glanced at Mousewhisker, and she hissed "let's go somewhere else." she said in an alarming voice which made Cinderkit gulp, the two she-kits padded to the nursery, when getting inside, Hollykit yawned and stretched her paws, Cinderkit yawned back and the two kits amble to their nests, they both sat down and then laid down, Hollykit stared at Cinderkit who was asleep, she smiled and then slowly closed her eyes.
