The Exam

Chapter 8: Epilogue

Gumball headed up stairs feeling happier than he had in weeks.

He entered the bedroom where Darwin and Anais were sitting and chatting on his bed.

"Oh hey bud, you look a lot happier!" Darwin smiled and greeted him.

"I am! Mom and I just had a talk and I feel so much better."

"That's great! What was even upsetting you so much?"

"It's...complicated, but it doesn't matter now anyway. It feels like a massive weight has been lifted off my chest."

"Glad to hear you're feeling better." Anais smiled.

"Thanks."

He sat down between the two of them.

"So, how'd you do on the test in the end?"

"I got a B minus!" He said proudly.

"Wow, really!? I guess those study sessions really paid off!"

"I guess they did. Thanks again for helping. I wouldn't have been able to do it with you. He smiled.

"No problem! I'm glad I could help." She hugged him. "Oh, and well done. I'm really proud of you." She looked up and smiled at him..

He hugged her back. "Thank you. That really means a lot."

Gumball grinned at her compliment. It meant a lot coming from her.

She thought for a moment before lowering her ears and looking down. "Though I...guess, now that the test is over, you won't...you won't wanna study with me anymore..." She said sounding disappointed.

"What? No, no of course I want to!"

"You...you do!?" She looked back up and gasped delightedly, her face lighting up.

"Of course! I may not have gotten an A but our study sessions still really helped. I definitely wouldn't have done anywhere near as well as I did without you. Besides I...I really enjoyed them. Spending time with you, seeing you so happy and enjoying it so much as well. I'd be happy to continue doing it." He blushed and rubbed his arm sheepishly.

"Really!?" She grinned.

He nodded. "Absolutely!"

She hugged him tighter. "Ah, thank you! I can't wait!"

"Me neither." He ruffled the fur on his head

Darwin looked down feeling left out.

Gumball smiled. "Awwww, c'mere!"

He opened up his arm and Darwin joined in the group hug, the three siblings happily embracing each other.

He began to smile as he thought about the sessions with Anais, the talk with his Mom and the two of them telling him they were proud of him.

"Hey, now that you feel better, you wanna go play outside with us?"

"Absolutely!" He smiled.

A cheeky grin formed across Anais' face "In that case...first one down chooses what we do!" She quickly said before suddenly bolting out the room with Darwin quickly following.

"Hey, wait, you can't do that!" He called as he ran out.

"Yes, I can!" He heard his sister call from the stairs with a cute giggle.

He grinned, letting out a chuckle before he followed.

Despite everything that had happened, it had been worth it.

He was happy again and life was great.
