to say miles was nervous was an understatement, he hasn't been this nervous since his first date with phoenix when they were beginning their relationship, now they have been dating for almost 7 years now, and today they were going to be meeting his boyfriend's aunt shelly

phoenix and shelly had recently got in touch after almost a decade of no contact, she was in an abusive relationship with her husband who was a gambler and mentally abusive towards his wife and their only child, mei wright, phoenix's now-deceased cousin

he gently smiled and hugged back, when they parted, she glanced up at miles, who just awkwardly smiled back

she smiled warmly as she opened up the door

'you can just call me shelly, please come in'

the apartment was small, but very nicely put together, it reminded him of phoenix's apartment, but much less gothic and more warmer

she said as she gestured to the stools and counter, they both sat down as she served them both a cup of chamomile tea, miles favourite kind

'phoenix has told me quite a bit about you, I had asked what your favourite kind of drink was, and i was fresh to make it as best to your liking as possible'

miles thanked her as he took a sip, the tea was made to perfection, the computer was right, and the lemon along with the lavender suited it nicely, adding a nice kick while enhancing the flavour

'this tea is very well made'

he complimented, she smiled

'i'm so glad you like it, I've spent a lot of time researching on various types of tea and the best way to make it'

'you didn't have to do such a thing for my sake, but i do appreciate the effort'

he said, shelly took a seat across from them

'how long have you two known each other?'

'we've known each other since we were seven but lost contact after a decade, then we reconnected when we were twenty-four, and began dating three years ago'
