Milo
I watched as Asher played in the back yard giggling to himself as he clumsily fell over the ball and his paws. I sat on back porch sipping some coffee as I watched.
Soon Asher came over to me with the ball. "Do you want me to throw it?" I hummed as he nodded quickly.
"Y-yes!" he smiled even through his stumble on trying to say one of his new words.
"Good job you said that so good!" I praised which made the boy light up a goofy grin on his face.
I took the ball from him before throwing it across the yard he quickly went after it and once he had it he brought it back to me. "Good boy!" I beamed. I saw a smile once again appear on his face.
We went on like this for a while and I could tell he was getting tired. "Come on puppy time to go in," I called as I stood taking my empty mug to put in the sink.
I heard a small whine. "No..." he pouted before it was interrupted by a yawn.
"You're tired sweetie you need to rest okay?" I hummed gently taking his hand.
But he once again whined shaking his head. "N-not tired." he huffed his cheeks were red and he was sweaty and dirty.
"Well can we at least get you in the bath?" I tried I watched him for a moment as he nodded. "Good boy." I cooed ruffling his hair.
We went to the bathroom and I started up a bubble bath letting him see something new. I watched as his eyes widened in wonder. "Hey lookie they pop." I smiled popping one of the bubbles. I watched as his eyes lit up and his tail wagged like mad. "You like them?" once again I received an excited nod.
"Yes!" he beamed going to get in but I needed to undress him first.
"Here let's get you undressed so you can play with the bubbles." I hummed.
"B-b-bubbles!" he cheered excitedly that not only did he get to play with the bubbles but he had said a new word as well.
"Good job buddy you did that all on your own!" I praised which caused him to blush.
After I got him in the bath I let him play for a bit before washing him making sure to be careful while dealing with his back. He winced here and there but otherwise, he didn't fight me.
I could tell he was sleepy, he kept yawning and rubbing his eyes. "Alright time to get out pup," I said beginning to drain the tub.
I heard a small tired whine. I looked at Asher smiling. His eyes were droopy and bloodshot from trying too hard to stay awake.
I got him dressed before taking him back to his room. He kept whining about not wanting to sleep. "Would it help if I got something that smelled like me or a stuffy?" I hummed putting him on the bed.
"Mi-lo," he said pointing at me.
"Do you want my hoodie?" he nodded quickly. I smiled slipping my hoodie off and slipping it on him. It looked like it engulfed his entire body. I heard him giggle a bit. "Alright now I need you to lie down for daddy okay?" I said rubbing his head gently.
I watched as he finally laid down. "D-daddy?" he tried picking up another word.
I smiled, "yes baby boy?"
He yawned again his eyes closing. "No...sleepy..." he said as he drifted off to sleep.
