The drawing of Secret above (only on Quotev) was made by my cousin and he said I could share it with you all

Hello everyone. This chapter is the shortest and probably most important in the entire story. I am sad that this journey has come to an end, but I am glad that I get to share my works with all 100~ of you. This is my proudest work and I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. As you all surely know, Technoblade passed away 3 days ago on June 30th, and it really has taken a toll on me. Because of this, I am dedicating this final chapter to him and his friends and family, and I wish them all the best. Without further ado, here is the last chapter of Ephemeral.

Chapter 8, Now or Never pt. 2:

Tommy's eyes blinked open, adjusting to the darkness of the cave, and he sat up with a start.

"Wha-what the-" He looked back at the faint remains of the portal he'd just gone through. "What the fuck just happened?"

It felt like he had been gone for months, but his hair and clothes were still soaking wet from his unexpected fall in the pond. How long was I in there? Did I even go through? He tried to reach for the portal, which was still barely in front of him, but it faded to nothing in a flash. He had no evidence of what had just happened. No proof.

More importantly, he couldn't recall where he had been for that month, it was all so strange. It feels like I just woke up from a coma, but time hasn't moved at all.. Was I even gone? Did I just hallucinate the portal?

Tommy looked down at his hands and noticed something very peculiar. On his right wrist there was a simple, blue bracelet with a shell woven into it. What's that? I didn't have that before. Maybe it came from the portal? No, that's impossible. How could the only thing I received from a legendary portal be an insignificant bracelet?

Tommy decided to shake all of the strange events that had just occurred from his mind, maybe he'd remember something about it later. Instead, he focused on the chaos that was ensuing aboveground. "I hope Tubbo is okay after that explosion.." He muttered to himself before he dove back into the pond.

Quickly, he propelled himself up through the water, and pulled himself onto land. He stood up and wrung some of the water from his shirt and bandana. He tried to look for Tubbo, or any hints as to what just happened, but he could barely see anything through the black cloud of smoke surrounding him.

"TUBBO! ARE YOU THERE!" Tommy called, small bits of rock and debris still fell through the air- time really had stopped.

"TOMMY IS THAT YOU?" He heard a far-away voice yell,

"YEAH IT IS, WHERE ARE YOU?" Tommy tried to look around through the cloud, but it was to no avail.

"I'M STUCK." He heard Tubbo shout back.

"WHERE?" Tommy looked around frantically for his best friend. Maybe after this was over he would tell Tubbo about the portal, even though there really wasn't much to say since he couldn't remember what happened while he was there.

"I'M UNDER A BIG ROCK, WHERE ARE YOU?" The smoke was starting to clear near the bottom, where they were, but the place where their bench used to be was still completely enveloped in a pitch black cloud.

"I FELL IN THE LAKE, BUT THERE ARE A LOT OF BIG ROCKS AROUND HERE, CAN YOU BE A BIT MORE SPECIFIC?" Tommy continued to try and look around, coughing into his sleeve as the smoke made his eyes sting.

"OH! OH! I SEE YOU!! TOMMY TURN AROUND!" Tubbo shouted enthusiastically. Tommy whirled around on his heel and saw Tubbo, whose leg was being crushed by a huge boulder.
