Graduation day had come. Eddie was excited, but mostly nervous. He was sure that he was going to graduate, even thought it took him longer than others his age. Even when he was knocking on death's door, he was absolutely sure he would graduate, and sure enough, with everything that had happened, graduating was all he wanted.

With the few residents who refused to pack up and leave, despite the horror and tragedy that struck the town, Hawkins had become a ghost town, nothing but a shell of what it used to be.

Waking up at 7 am, Eddie sat on the edge of the bed, his head in his hands.

"I can't believe it. I'm graduating today..." Eddie had clearly been dreaming of this day for many years, but past experiences and events had convinced him it would never happen.

"Yep. You're gonna hold that diploma in your hand and prove to everyone that you're just an innocent man completing one phase of his life." You smiled, kissing him.

"Are you gonna wear your Hellfire club shirt?" You asked, seeing Eddie walk into your shared closet.

"No. I don't think that's such a good idea, considering it's what convinced Jason and the town that I was a satanic murderer." Eddie laughed.

"How about you compromise? Wear your Hellfire club shirt..." You gave it to him.

"...but also wear a blazer." You handed him a blazer.

"That combo seems a little...weird, don't you think?" Eddie asked, confused.

"You, my love, are Eddie 'the freak' Munson. Weird is your whole personality. It's what makes you unique and loveable." You kissed his cheek before letting him get changed.

He walked out of the closet 2 minutes later with his Hellfire shirt on, a black blazer on top and his signature black jeans. Putting his rings on his fingers, he looked at himself in the mirror.

"See. You look normal." You reassured him as he looked at himself, making sure everything was okay.

"Now. Your uncle is coming today. As well as Dustin, Mike, Lucas, Erica, Steve, Nancy and Robin. We'll all be here to celebrate a special day in your life." You hugged him.

The day went along, with Eddie constantly checking his hair and clothes to make sure everything was okay. Getting to the school, it was set up for a graduation ceremony. While there was probably half the guests there would usually be, Eddie didn't care.

"We're here!" Dustin called out, giving Eddie a big hug.

"You remember what I told you and Mike I was gonna do on my graduation day?" Eddie asked, Dustin's eyes widening.

"No way. Really?" Mike asked, hoping that Eddie was being honest.

"Really." Eddie smiled as he took the last cap and gown. Placing them on, he stood in front of a mirror, his smile fading.

"What's wrong?" You asked, holding his hand.

"I don't know if I can do this...I mean...there's a reason why I didn't graduate sooner. Granted, my grades weren't good back then." Eddie sighed.

"Eddie. The sooner you gradate, the sooner you can escape Hawkins..." You explained.

"I could never escape Hawkins. Not without you and my uncle." He kissed you passionately before pulling away.

"It's time to graduate." Eddie sighed, holding your hand as you both walked toward the gym. You let go, walking off in a different direction.

Getting to the gym, you sat down next to your friends, excited to see Eddie walk across that stage. After what seemed like forever, his name was finally called.

"Eddie...Munson." Principal Higgins spoke, clearly uncomfortable with saying his name. You watched with joy as Eddie calmly walked out onto the stage, his eyes staying on Principal Higgins. It was clear that he didn't want to look into the small crowd of people.

You could see that Principal Higgins was shaking, trying to remain calm.

EDDIE
Standing behind that stupid curtain was making me feel ill. One after another, the students who still remained in Hawkins, walked across the stage when their name was called, receiving their diplomas. There was only 32 of us, yet it felt like there were 100 people getting their diplomas.

After what seemed like forever, I was the last person. I could see the discomfort that Principal Higgins was displaying as he stood at the mic, one last name to be called.

"Eddie...Munson." He spoke, barely being able to say my name. I put on a smile, beginning my walk onto the stage, staying calm.

I knew that everyone who remained in Hawkins would still hate me, after all, they think I caused all the destruction. Focusing on Principal Higgins, I walked toward him, seeing the diploma in his hand.

Without thinking twice, I slowly raised my right hand and put my middle finger up, exactly like I had told Dustin and Mike I was going to. Seeing the shocked look on Principal Higgins' face, I snatched the diploma out of his hand, running off the stage with it.

I knew I shouldn't have flipped him off, yet it was something I needed to do. I needed him to know that he had finally gotten rid of me.

Running out of the gym, I ran onto the football field and threw my cap into the air.

"I'M FREE!" I screamed.

"Eddie...you did it. I can't believe you actually did it. You flipped Principal Higgins off!" Mike was impressed.

"I never lie." I smirked, watching as Y/N ran up to me.

Running out to the football field, you headed straight toward Eddie, wrapping his arms around him as he kissed you.

"You're free. You're finally free." You smiled.

"Congrats, Eddie. I'm so very proud of you." Wayne smiled as he hugged his nephew.

"I'm gonna miss you Eddie." Lucas smiled, hugging his friend.

"Don't be sad. I may be finished with high-school, but I'm not leaving Hawkins anytime soon." Eddie smiled.

"Took you long enough." Erica smiled.

"I was taking my time, Lady Applejack." Eddie smiled back as he shook Erica's hand.

"Good job Eddie." Nancy and Robin hugged Eddie as he hugged them back.

"Now that you're out of high-school, like me, there's always a position at Family Video...if you're interested." Steve hugged his friend.

"Steve, as much as I would love to work with my favourite babysitter, I don't want to leave Robin without a job." Eddie laughed as Robin playfully hit his shoulder.

"C'mon everyone. Let's go out and celebrate." Wayne suggested to the group.

"Yes. I'll pay." Wayne added before you all got into your vehicles, driving to a diner just outside of town.
