Chapter 26

"Luhan! Come down to my level right now! I have to ask you something!" Ren yells at me as soon as I pick my phone up.

"Okay, I'll be right down." I say as I hang up and walk over to the elevator.

When I get into his lab I realize just how different our work is. There are bones, body diagrams, and other mechanical robots in shapes of bodies.

"Great, you're here." He says as he hurries over to me.

"I have a huge favor to ask you. You don't have to say yes but I would love it if you did." He says as he jumps up and down.

"What is it?"

"Well, I've been working on something new recently, and I think I've figured out how to duplicate someone." He says slowly as I think about what he said.

"And I wanted to know, if you would let me use you to make my prototype." He says with a small cringe while he waits for my answer.

"Would it have my intelligence?"

"No, it would have your body shape but it would have a computer generated mind."

"Are you sure this'll be safe? What if it starts attacking everyone?"

"It won't, I've fixed all the bugs, it's will be kind and sweet, please." He begs.

"What do you need from me?"

"Just a little blood and some hair, um, some other stuff." He says making me bush my eyebrows together.

"What kind of other stuff?" I asks slowly, nervous to hear what he'll say.

...

I can't believe I'm doing this, well, it's for science so..

"How much blood are you taking?" I ask as he grabs a bag and needle from his office.

"Just a pint or two, today.."

"How much do you possibly need?!"

"A lot, and your body will reproduce more so don't worry." He says making me roll my eyes as I wait for this to be over.

"Now eat your cookie and drink your juice and you'll be fine." He says as he hands them to me.

"You're annoying some times." I sigh as I drink the juice through a straw.

"Now, can you get me those other things by tomorrow?"

"Well, I guess, do you really need all those things?"

"Yes, here are some tubes, this ones for your sperm. You see this, you twist and it pops off!" He says sarcastically as he pulls the lid off it, "and then you aim and fire, I could put a target at the bottom if it will make you more comfortable." He jokes making me roll my eyes.

"You know what? Maybe I'll just go find some random hobo and tell him to do all this and mess everything up, would you like that?"

"No, preferably no," he sighs, "thank you, seriously. Thank you." He chuckles as he hugs me and sends me out.

I'm slightly embarrassed about having to get him some of the other things he asked for... Kind of awkward things to ask for in my opinion, but it's for science, so I will.

I get back to my level and continue working on my hover board, I finished that actually. I'm making some magnets, you could call them, that you put on the bottom of your shoes so you won't fall off.

It's Friday night, I know Sehun wanted to do something. Maybe I should go? I need to get his phone number, it's been how long now and I still don't have it?

"Here, don't ask for more." I mumble as I hand him the bag with the necessities in it.

"Thanks! You did it here?" He chuckles.

"Where else am I gonna do it! I'm not taking it back to my dorm room!" I say as my cheeks heat up.

"Why?" He asks.

"Because! I don't want Sehun to see it!"

"Oh, wait, so, are you two.. together?" He asks.

"I thought everyone would have told you by now." I huff as I cross my arms over my chest.

"You're still mad at them?"

"Not Baekhyun and you guys, but the others embarrassed me to another level. So yeah, I'm still a little pissed. I'm leaving, have fun with that." I say as I leave back to the elevator.

...

I stay working on my project until I finally finished the shoes and go to test them out. I turn the hover board on and let it hover slightly off the ground as I think of how I should step up on it.

I lift up one of my feet before the board flies up to connect to it making me fall back from the force.

"Nice." I mumble as I try to hook the other one to it.

It refuses to touch the floor as I slowly pull myself up and hold onto the board so it won't tip over.

I slowly stand up on it and it feels kind of like I'm just standing on a wobbly ladder.

I pull my back foot up slightly making me move forward and I put it back to stop.

I play around with it and figure out how to making myself go up higher before getting stuck on the ceiling of the room.

I lift my hands up and try to push myself down but it's impossible to.

I wonder...

I bend my legs up before turning myself upside down and begin falling quickly to the ground. My legs spin around back under me and the board saves me just before I hit the ground.

"Oh God." I say out of breath before I fall back onto the squishy padding of the floor.

My legs are shaking slightly as I pant and rub my eyes. Wow..

I need to fix some bugs in it, I need to make some kind of control that I can use to make the magnets release on command.

I can't believe I've actually done it, after what? Ten years? I've finally done it.
