Hey guys, sorry for the wait on this chapter. I wanted to write it well because its one of my favorites, and hence it took forever. This chapter is dedicated to katbgoldenheart (again). I figured I should dedicate another one to her seeing as the last chapter was complete crap. Thanks for sticking around to read this!

There was something unnerving when I woke up on Saturday. My room looked the same as it always did at 8:00 in the morning, so that wasn't it. Then I realized it wasn't what I was seeing, but what I was hearing. Or in this case, wasn't hearing.

My roommate, although it took her a while to get to sleep because she was an insomniac, snored. And on that particular morning, there was no snoring. Not was there a sleeping Anita in the bed across the room.

There was, however, a note folded and left on her pillow with my name scrawled across it.

Ella,
You were still asleep when we left for the field trip. I figured you may have forgotten it was today, so this is a reminder. I'll try to find something for you for the dance.
Have fun with your 'me day',
Anita
P.S. We'll be back just before dinner.

Oops. It was a good thing she had left the note, or I would have spent the whole day looking for the entire school. I quickly showered and got dressed, then made my way out into the empty hallways.

Everything was eerily quiet. Thanks to the trip being on a weekend, I had an entire day to myself. Not being able to bear the strange silence of the hallways, I headed outside.

In the courtyard in front of the school, it was less silent. All around me there were birds singing. It was a warm day; the sun was shining. I feel happy, I told myself. I had almost convinced myself I this when I looked down and saw frost on the ground beneath my feet.

One thing that had become apparent was that my emotions tended to have more control over my powers than I did. When I was mad, things tended to get singed. When I was lonely, frost could form in the middle of a desert.

I sighed and walked towards the cliffs that dropped off to the sea at the edge of the island, while ice formed in the cracks in the pavement under my feet. I sat down at the edge, staring out at the horizon as my isolation set in.

I don't know how long I sat there in a trance as the waves crashed against the cliffs below me. Eventually, I stood and walked around the edge of the island until I reached an area I hadn't visited yet.

There was a long line of trees along the cliff edge, all of them blooming pink in the middle of winter. In between the trees were dark oak wood benches. I walked along the path until I noticed something out of place: a tree that hasn't bloomed.

Raising my hand, I looked at the bare branches and used my powers to help the tree along. First, small green buds appeared all over the branches. Then, they all burst open at once, leaving flowers with twice the beauty of the other trees.

"They reminded me of you when I saw them the first time" A voice behind me caused me to jump. I wheeled around to see who it was.

I found Ben standing behind me. Stupid, of course he's here. He didn't go in the trip either, I scolded myself mentally. "How did you find me?" I asked, tilting my head.

"The frost," he gestured to the cracks in the sidewalk, glistening with ice. "The vs always got a little... cold when you were lonely, so I thought you might want to hang out today," He said, smiling. Then he appeared to think twice and added, "Unless you already planned on doing something. That's fine too."

Now it was my turn to smile. I simply walked over to the bench nearest the two of us. When he didn't move, I gestured to the spot next to me, smirking.

"How did they remind you of me?" I asked as he took a seat.

"What? Oh, the saucer magnolias. Well, for one thing, they bloom in the harshest season, winter, and you always seemed to excel under pressure. Also, the flowers are so..." He trailed off, looking away. I could've sworn that he was blushing.

"What? What about the flowers?" I asked, teasing him. Whatever he was going to say, he was too embarrassed to say it, choosing instead to mumble, "nothing".

At that I laughed. When I did, he looked up at me like I was crazy, then grinned. "I haven't heard you laugh since... a few days before you left." He looked at me, growing serious. "I missed it," he said, and I could tell by the look in his eyes that he had.

I blushed as pink as the flowers overhead and quickly changed the topic. "So I left, huh? Any idea why?" That made him freeze, and squint his serious, brown eyes shut.

"Yeah" was his quick, one word reply. I waited for him to continue, but nothing came. As I waited, my blood started to boil at one of the only people who knew who I was.

"What kind of answer is that?!" I yelled, making him flinch. "If I'm going to be hunted by a super villain, I might as well not be completely clueless! I need answers, not people telling me that they know something I don't!" His jaw was clenched, and he wouldn't look at me. I waited for another minute, and when he still didn't respond, I stood and said, "unbelievable", then walked away.

After about ten steps, he called out after me. "Wait." It wasn't a shout, or a command, but a plea. I stopped walking, but didn't turn around. When he spoke again, I was surprised at his words: "We met in a tree house."

Hee hee! Try not to hate me, the next update will hopefuly make up for my cruelty this time through.

So, as you are probably cussing at me, I would like to take this time to ask you a question:

What song reminds you of Ben and Ella?

The sooner I have this question answered, the sooner I can get on with some cute moments.
Another question:

What should the ship name be?

Anita, being one of many fangirls in the world, needs to make up a ship name. Unfortunately for her, I suck at those things, so the responsibility falls to you, dear readers.

Oh, and I want to start a new thing. At the end of each chapter, I want to give a fun fact or answer a question, so if you have any questions, please comment.

This chapters fun fact is: Cammie's full name is Cameron Ann (blurbs out Ella's last name)

Sorry, no spoilers!

Thanks for reading, and if you have commented, odds are a chapter will be dedicated to you.
Thanks,
Emily
