Chapter 1

Amity's POV

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

I groan as I slam my hand on my alarm clock. Isn't it the weekend? I don't work on weekends! I rub my eyes and start to adjust, as I get off of my bed. Making the sheets and blanket, I look at the digital clock. Yeah, it's 6:30 AM... Oh shoot! It's a Monday!

I rush to my closet and pick out an outfit. I settle on a pink and white striped shirt with a black skirt, and a thin white zipper hoodie over it. I go to the bathroom and wash my face. Fixing my hair as I brush my teeth, I smile sadly.

Pleh. I spit out the paste. I look at my long, purple hair. The brown roots have grown out a lot by now. It reminds me of Luz.

I wonder where she is now.

Ever since she went back through the portal, there was no way for contact. I've never moved on. No other relationships.

I sigh.

I put in black heart earrings and do my makeup.

At least I'm not with Odalia nor my dad anymore. No more bossy-bots.

I never really forgave dad.

After putting everything together, I go step foot outside in my 1" black platforms. "Come on, Ghost." I tell her as she transforms into a staff. I fly to the nearest cafe, as that's where my job is. It's 6:58 AM. I'm not late yet.

"Yes! I made it!" I congratulate myself. Setting Ghost to the palisman play area, I go behind the Counter.

"Amity! You made it on time!" I hear my coworkers soft yet raspy voice behind me.

"Yeah. I was worried I wouldn't make it. Somehow, you're always here before me!" I put her dark green hair to the side so it doesn't get in her face, and push her golden framed glasses up. "Come on Willow, we're busy on Mondays."

I start up the coffee brewer and restock the cream. I hear a ding. Going behind the register, I smile at the customer, waiting for him to walk up.

"Hello! Welcome to the Isles Cafe, the #1 cafe in all of the Boiling Isles! What can I do for you today?" He glances at the menu, then shuffles through his wallet. He hands me 10 snails.

"Could I have one hot chocolate and one iced caramel tattle?"

"Sure! That'd be 7.39, do you want your change?" I ask him. He shakes his head. "Alright, that'll be out in just a minute!" Willow already started making the tattle, and one of the other baristas is making the hot chocolate.

"Do you have a membership with us?" I ask him. He sighs, and shakes his head. "Oh! Would you like to apply for one? The beni-"

"No."

"Oh, okay! Well uh, have a good day!" I call out to him as he waits by the door. I grumble under my breath.

Ding!

"Hello! Welcome to Isles ca-"

"I know, Blight."
