chapter 7 - falling

i finally made friends, people actually like the way how i am, animal club was getting a good reputation. as months pass by it was almost the end of the school year, the next day after school i had animal club "so i have great event ideas for junior year and i have a announcement to make, james i want you to be my co leader for junior year" lily said when i heard that i got excited, everyone started clapping for me lily kept on smiling she just smiled, after when animal club was over, we were cleaning up brandon walked up to lily "ok i know this is way too fast but i made these animal club shirts well better and new ones so when we have events" brandon said "brandon these are amazing, how did you do it" lily said "well lets just say one of a family members did it" brandon said "there lovely thank you" lily said they smiled, then mr skills walked in to our class "m- mr sk- skills" james said "hello james" mr skills said "mr skills what are you doing here" lily said "i just came to visit and to see how james is doing" mr skills said "oh well hes doing a amazing job and hes gonna be my co leader for animal club junior year" lily said "i see you two have been getting a long so well" mr skills said lily looked at me i was with her friends laughing with them she kept looking at me and slowly started to smile "yes we have" lily said after the cleaning up it was time go home, i was walking out of school but lily went up to me "put your school stuff away because we are going to have fun today" lily said "wh- where ar- are w- we go- going" james said lily smiled "you'll see when we get there your gonna love it" lily said i got excited after lily and i told my mom about it and drove us there lily told my mom where it is. she dropped us off, the place was a big arcade not just a arcade there was bowling dancing it was a very fun place i got really excited "arc- arcade! arc- arcade!" james said "well what are we waiting for lets have some fun" lily said we ran inside the arcade we were bowling, playing games, but i was a little rusty lily helped me, we were having so much fun especially lily then i made a jack pot thanks to lily, lily was impressed "wow james that was awesome" lily said we got a lot of tickets from those tickets we got 60 candy bags. after, i heard music i saw people dancing in the dance floor i got excited "d- dance!" james said "oh no please dont make me do this" lily said i grabbed lilys wrist and ran to the dance floor i started dancing lily was so surprised i grabbed her hands and started dancing with her she slowly started to dance that she loved it we were dancing together she was having so much fun i can see she was changing so much not feeling pain not feeling sad even hate. after we went outside eating our candies that we won while watching the sun going down. " i have to admit your a better dancer than i am but it was fun" lily said "r- really" james said lily just smiled "this was the best day ever" lily said "fr- free ca- candy" james said "oh diffently my favorite part" lily said we giggled "you know i never thought i could have so much fun with you" lily said "i- ill al- always b- be th- there" james said "your the greatest friend i could ever have." lily said she put her head on my shoulder again but this time my heart it felt warm she started to pour out her feelings she finally started to feel things that she never felt before beautiful feelings not her dark side. i kept looking at her smiling at her she took off her head on my shoulder and looked at me "what is it?" lily said "yo- you- your be- bea- beaut- beautiful" james said i touched her hair and brushed it with my hand, she smiled but right away she kissed me. i didnt know how to react to the kiss she was my first ever kiss she stopped the kiss, she kept looking at me i looked at her we kept on smiling we were falling for each other she finally gets to be happy, but then thats when everything happen thats when everything started to fall apart, my heart i just couldnt breath anymore i was feeling dizzy lily was so confused then she realized something bad is happening to me "james..!"lily said she didnt know what to do she saw a car that people were getting out of she helped me get up quickly and put me in the car the people were confused "uh i think you got the wrong car" "sorry i have to borrow it" lily said she got the persons keys and drove fast she tried to find the closest hospital she kept driving and driving until she found a hospital. thats how insane lily was she  took a random persons car just to save my life. she took me out of the car and took me inside the hospital "someone please help my friend" lily said they saw me and took me right away "everything is gonna be okay james i promise" lily said i looked at her she looked scared i wanted her to be happy not scared, but they took me inside the emergency room lily couldnt go as far anymore. lily had to wait in the waiting room she called my mom and told her everything what happen to me, my mom got to the hospital and saw lily "lily" ms baldwin said "ms baldwin im so sorry i just didnt know what to do" lily said my mom hugged lily "its okay its not your fault" ms baldwin said they waited and waited, until "for james baldwin" doctor said "yes! thats my friend tell me is he gonna be okay" lily said "yes hes okay now, but uh can i speak to a parent or guardian now" doctor said "you can tell me hes my friend hes my best friend" lily said i couldnt believe lily said that for the first time in a long time. "i know but its now for the adults to talk" doctor said my mom walked up to them "its okay lily dont worry were just gonna talk" ms baldwin said lily walked away "and you are" doctor said "im james mother ms baldwin" ms baldwin said "do you know that your son may not make it" doctor said it was almost time "yes.. i know" ms baldwin said "well your son will slowly start to get weaker and weaker for the next few weeks we dont know how long he will make it but will try to keep him alive as possible" doctor said "ok.." ms baldwin said the doctor left my mom went up to lily "so, what did they say" lily said my mom knew it was the best not to tell lily the truth yet "james is just gonna stay here for awhile until he recovers" ms baldwin said "thats great will i be able to see him" lily said "of course but right now its best for you to go home and get some rest" ms baldwin said lily did listen to my mom, she went home when she got home she saw her mom happy lily was so confused "mom is everything okay?" lily said "oh sweetie its just gonna be you and me for awhile" lilys mom said "wheres frank" lily said "hes not gonna be with us for a very very long time but all my attention is gonna be on you now, i promise its just gonna be me and you forever" lilys mom said lilys stuff at home was finally getting better "so, how was school" lilys mom said lily got calm "james is in the hospital." lily said "oh dear is he alright" lilys mom said "yea hes just recovering hell get out soon" lily said "well im glad to hear that" lilys mom said "mom" lily said "yes" lilys mom said "is it okay if i miss a few days of school just so i can see how james is doing and i promise ill go back" lily said lilys mom kept thinking but smiled "of course you can go see james" lilys mom said and she did miss those days of school just to go see me, she went to the hospital the nurse showed her the way "here he is" nurse said "james!" lily said "l- lily"james said i smiled at her i was happy to see her, she ran up to me "im so glad your okay soon you'll get out and we'll plan out our events for animal club for junior year" lily said "am- amazing" james said we smiled, a few days after lily did went back to school she told her friends especially brandon her friends also visit me except brandon. lily kept visiting and visiting as i was getting weaker and weaker. they finally let me sit on a wheelchair every time when lily visit she drived me around sometimes she would go fast just to have fun but she would get in trouble "no driving fast lily" nurse said "sorry, you know this hospital is starting to get boring" lily said i giggled, there was a outdoor place to play sports lily and i were catching the ball, she threw the ball at me but i couldnt catch it because i was getting weaker "nice job james ive seen you done worst but good job" lily said we spend a lot of time together as more days pass by the next day at school lily was in chemistry class she sits next to brandon they use to not talk to each other but now they do. "and remember do not mix these colors together or else poof it will explode" chemistry teacher said "and if i do does that mean we get to get out of this boring class" brandon said "nice try mr stones" chemistry teacher said everyone laughed "what a boring class" brandon said "hey hes just trying to keep us out of trouble" lily said they giggled "so.. hows james doing" brandon said "hes doing fine, you know you should go visit him he would love to see you" lily said "maybe i should, i just.. dont know if im ready." brandon said "well heres the address, when ever you decide to go he will be very happy to see you" lily said "thanks" brandon said after, the bell rang school was finally over for them lily and brandon were walking in the halls "so um do you have counseling section today" brandon said "yup" lily said "i. dont." brandon said "well someone is cool" lily said they giggled then "brandon" alex said thats when alex happen "uh ill see you later" brandon said "ok." lily said lily left, alex and nate walked up to brandon "you know you got some nerve" alex said "yea where have you been" nate said "does it matter" brandon said "i know you join that stupid animal club" alex said "and hanging out with james whats up with that" nate said "you know he doesnt belong here hes a freak" alex said "well maybe im one to" brandon said "oh now youve really done it" alex said " what are you gonna do hurt me go ahead" brandon said alex grabbed brandons arm, brandon grabbed alex neck "hey you kids leave him alone" mr skills said alex and brandon let go "come on alex hes not worth it" nate said "youve may have changed but just remember your the new freak" alex said alex got serious but they left "are you okay brandon" mr skills said "yea im fine am i in trouble" brandon said "no, they should be the ones in trouble" mr skills said "oh. and uh thanks" brandon said "im really proud of you brandon you've changed a lot especially for james" mr skills said "thanks." brandon said "i heard hes at the hospital" mr skills said "yea i might visit him im just.. a little scared" brandon said mr skills had a idea "well i can go with you if you want" mr skills said "really, thanks mr skills" brandon said after all that, lily had her counseling section "ok everything looks fine, so theres a 90% chance that you dont have to be here junior year" ms pops said "really finally" lily said lily was happy "but lily when you do leave from this there is a warning, if you change back the way you are theres a chance you will come back again" ms pop said lily started to walk out "but i know you wouldnt change if you did it for james" ms pops said lily stopped for a second "i know." lily said then she left, after she went to visit me we were at the board game room, we were playing a board game my mom was watching us play then mr skills and brandon came i saw them "m- mr sk- skills br- brandon" james said "hey james" brandon said "s- so ha- happy t- to se- see y- you" james said lily looked at brandon "told you" lily said brandon smiled, the three of us played the board game. my mom was so surprised to see mr skills. she went up to him "mr. skills its been so long" ms baldwin said "you've grown so much merlin" mr skills said that was my moms real name, but i didnt know mr skills knew my mom as well just like he knew my father. "look at them, there all happy i havent seen lily smiled in a long time and brandon im so glad hes changing for better" mr skills said "james really knows how to care for others thats the last thing he wants before he goes" ms baldwin said my mom got calm and sad at the same time mr skills saw, mr skills figured what was gonna happen to me "he is just like his father unique" mr skills said my mom slowly smiled, as more days pass by i was getting even more weaker that i wasnt able to use the wheel chair anymore. it was almost time to tell lily the truth sooner or later "i dont get it, they should put you on the wheel chair there just making you worst not better" lily said "l- lily i.. i.. ha- have t- to te- tell y- you so- som- someting" james said "what is it" lily said "m- my di- dis- disa- disability  dif- dif- different i.. i.. ha- have a si- sick- sickness" james said lily was confused "i dont understand" lily said "im le- leav- leaving so- soon" james said "wait your finally getting out of the hospital thats great news" lily said lily smiled "n- no li- life.. life." james said lilys smile slowly started to fade away, she was starting to feel her dark side again her broken self "you lied..!" lily said she was mad, but her eyes started to get watery, she left the room without saying anything. lily saw my mom "lily" ms baldwin said she ignored my mom and just passed by her my mom saw how upset lily was, she figured that i told her. lily just left the hospital sad, broken, she was devastated.
