chapter 8 - our last goodbyes

the pain of sadness that lily was feeling she was losing her best friend she was losing me, i didnt know what else i can do. the next day after school brandon went to animal club, when he got there lilys friends were concerned "hey guys, something wrong?" brandon said "yes, we havent seen lily all day" john said "have you seen her" claire said "uh no i havent" brandon said "animal club is cancel today if you find her let us know" sai said lily didnt go to school today i wonder why. brandon went home when he got home he saw his parents "hey sweetie, how was school today" jillian said "it was ok." brandon said "ok well go get clean up dinner is almost ready" nance said brandon went to his room he looked in the mirror he wanted the pain that he had to go away, but he wants to let go the pass and start to be better. after, he went to have dinner with his parents, they were having dinner after "is it ok if i go visit james again" brandon said "oh of course you can" jillian said "i mean, hes your friend after all" nance said "really, ok" brandon said brandon got up and walked out before he walked out he had one more thing to say to his parents "before i go. i just wanna say thanks for choosing me" brandon said his parents smiled "no matter what happens" nance said "we will always choose you, the last thing we want is for your parents to see how much you've grown" jillian said brandon hugged his moms right away. after that all that, brandon did went to go visit me he saw my mom she was on the phone in shocked brandon was confused. once my mom was done talking on the phone brandon went up to her "ms baldwin everything okay?" brandon said "no lilys mom just told me that lily ran away have you seen her" ms baldwin said "no. i havent seen her at school either" brandon said "this is bad her mom told me this is the 3rd time shes done this" ms baldwin said brandon didnt know what to do "is it ok if i talk to james" brandon said "of course" ms baldwin brandon went to the room i was staying, he went inside "james" brandon said "br- brandon" james said "how are you.. feeling." brandon said "we- weak" james said "why do you say that." brandon said "le- lea- leaving so- soon l- life.. l- l- life." james said brandon got in shocked but figured why lily ran away "james.. lily ran away." brandon said "m- my f- fault" james said "its not your fault, dont worry im gonna find her i promise. do you know where she could be" brandon said i was thinking then i got a flashback "this is the best tree house" 7 year old lily said "that we ever made" 7 year old james said my flashback went away, but i figured where she could be "tr- tree ho- house" james said "what" brandon said "tr- tree ho- house bro- brook- brookson rr- river" james said "wait thats a street name i know where that is" brandon said "tr- tree h- house" james said "tree house, ok ill go find her i promise" brandon said brandon went to go find lily at that place, he took a bus when he got there he tried to look everywhere for her. he was trying to find that tree house, that tree house was lily and i childhood tree house, then he found a familiar tree house he went to it that tree house was really big and high he heard footsteps he climb the tree and went inside. after, he saw lily he found her but the tree house was a mess. a lot of things were on the floor some stuff were broken, he had a figure lily had a mental breakdown lily had her arms crossed her legs while sitting she had her head down her legs, after she looked up brandon saw dry tears in her eyes with her dark vags it look like she hasnt slept for days. "brandon. what are you doing here." lily said "i came to take you home" brandon said "im not going back" lily said "come on dont do this right now" brandon said lily got up " james is leaving soon as soon as he leaves were gonna go back to our old selfs again back to falling apart and you know were never gonna change were broken miserable teens.. you dont know what it feels like to lose someone" lily said "yes i do." brandon said "what" lily said "i lost two important people in my life my parents. and of course i miss them i know i fell apart so many times but we learned so many things this year, that we cant give up. and you know james would've want that." brandon said "i just.. i dont.. im gonna.. miss.." lily said lily started to cry, brandon hugged her right away holding each other tight, lily started to tear up more brandon slowly started to break down in tears but now i know who would take care of her when im gone. after, they sat down for hours lily felt a little better they were talking "so he use to be normal" brandon said "yes. we were inseparable when we were kids, after that.. he just fell when we were playing and once i knew he was different that was the last time i talked to him when really i shouldve been there for him" lily said "its not your fault lily, you were just a kid you didnt know and look at you guys now you guys reunited again" brandon said "yea i guess we did." lily said lily and brandon became closer as friends after, lily did went back home with brandon she apologies to her mom a few days after lily went back to the hospital. lily saw my mom she sat right next to her and apologies for the other day. "im sorry, i just didnt want to lose my friend.." lily said "trust me lily i know how you feel, the last thing james would want is for him to be normal and for you to be happy" ms baldwin said "its crazy, how us teens take advantage of life blame our selfs hurt our selfs while james.. he was just trying to help us and we took advantage of that" lily said "i know he tried to take care of others and he did" ms baldwin said "its so weird, i wanna love him but i cant.." lily said "i know how you feel.. i felt that way at your age to" ms baldwin said "really.." lily said it was time for my mom to say her truth "james sickness.. he got it from his father he was just like james but he was already born like that. i knew him since we were kids we were also inseparable he did made it through high school, i fell in love with him i didnt want to but i did and well we got married and thats when james came a long the first time i told him he was gonna be a father you should've seen how happy he was but thats when everything fell apart  he ended up just like james gone.. he never got to see james born but now he will see him soon" ms baldwin said lily broke down in tears, i never knew about my father but lily did i guess my mom was just trying to protect me. after, lily went to my room that i was staying "happy" lily said she hasnt said that nickname in a long time  "pe- pea- peaches" james said "im sorry for everything.. i shouldve been there from the start" lily said "n- no ma- matter wh- what ha- happ- happens i- ill al- alw- always b- be th- there" james said i touch my chest then to hers "im gonna miss you happy.." lily said "i- im go- gonna mi- miss y- you t- to pe- peaches, ju- just re- rem- remember i- ill al- always ca- care" james said lily hugged me tight with tears, that was my last words our last goodbyes and i left, left this world. everyone went to my funeral especially lily and brandon after they buried me everyone left except for lily, she was sitting there looking at my stone mr skills went up to her and next to her "i guess james is spending time with his father right now" mr skills said "i guess he is." lily said "you know, james use to talk about you hours and hours how to make you happy" mr skills said "he did" lily said "of course" mr skills "well, he was smarter than me he was a better animal club leader than i was and i taught him all that" lily said "i guess your just good at teaching kids like him" mr skills said lily had an idea "yea your right, what if i can be a teacher like you, you think you can teach me how to be a teacher like you or a university you went to" lily said "so you wanna be a teacher like me after high school interesting" mr skills said "if thats how it seems like it then yes" lily said "well if you wanna study that stop by my classroom ill show you the best schools you would love to go to" mr skills said "thanks mr skills for everything" lily said after the next few days it was the last day of school, lily had her last counseling section before she went she was cleaning out her locker then she found a box, it said J on it i gave her a mystery box before i left, she open it looked inside she saw a leash when i walked the dogs and i fell into a box of cakes a toy car when we went to see the kids my notes that i wrote to be better in animal club the field trip flyer when we went to the zoo tickets tokens and candy from the fun arcade and last but not least a paper cut heart that says my heart to hers she broke down in tears but smiled, i know she'll keep that box forever she went through so much she was in the dark the cruel dark but she realized she was loved she was cared. after, she went to her last counseling section "ok, all i can say is congrats" ms pops said "wait what" lily said "you dont have to be here junior year" ms pops said "really? cool" lily said lily walked out right away but she stopped for second and looked at ms pops "you know, i know we get on your nerves but thanks for trying to take care of us i know you just wanted the best for us" lily said ms pops smiled "now go on go be a teenager" ms pops said  lily smiled but left, when she got out the office her friends were waiting for her outside "so" sai said "how did you do" claire said "and please dont tell me you messed up" john said "guys give her a break, go on lily" brandon said "well.. i dont have to go back junior year" lily said her friends cheered for her especially brandon because he doesnt have to go back either, he changed for better he has friends he can count on that wont give up on him he realized that there is more out there for him the light for him. "ok, to the mall" john said they were all walking out of school, lily and brandon were walking next to each other. "uh lily" brandon said "yes" lily said "i know james is gone but.. you dont mind. if i stay in animal club for junior year right." brandon said lily smiled at him "anyone is always welcome in animal club plus remember what james always said" lily said "no judge" they both said they giggled, and became the greatest friends for a while. lily hopes one day she'll became a teacher like mr skills, brandon hopes one day he will help others to find the light. they know ill always be there to watch them over, i know i didnt live long but my mission was to help others like brandon and lily, now they can be free, happy, and in piece all i can say is live the moment. live the moments while your still breathing I know I did, because thats how you see the bright of life thats how your unique.
