===================================="I know you guys are staring at me."
Dustin, Steve, Mitch and Lucas quickly looked away from the girl who was still writing at the desk.
"Uh what, sorry?" Steve asked.
"You said you needed something?" Lucas asked.
"Just hanging out." Steve threw his ball into the air.
"Yeah we're sorry." All three boys stared at Mitch who blurted out the truth they were covering up.
"How you think your eyes boring into the back of my head is protecting me from Vecna, I don't know." Max got up, envelopes in her hand.
Mitch rolled her eyes noticing the boys still avoiding eye contact with the red head.
"You can look at me now." Max said.
"Thank you."
"Sorry."
"Sorry."
"Sorry."
Max sighed, holding out a envelope towards Dustin, "For you," he glanced at it, then grabbing it.
Max held one towards Steve, "For you." The older boy grabbed it, Max grabbing another envelope.
She halted, then sighed, "You," Mitch glanced down at the envelope, grabbing it gently.
She looked down at the envelope that had her name written on it.
"And Um- you." She gave one to Lucas. "Oh and um, give these to Mike, El, and Will. If you can ever get a hold of them again."
Steve started to open it, "Woah! Hey- what are you doing?" Steve stopped hearing Max's yells. "No don't. That's not for now. Don't open it now."
"Don't , okay." Dustin nodded.
"Max what is this?" Mitch asked.
"It's um-," Max looked down, "It's a fail-safe. For after. You know if things don't work out."
Mitch looked at her envelope, realizing that she wasn't the only one who was having worries about making it out alive.
"Wait- woah, Max." Lucas stoped her, "Things are gonna work out."
"No!" Max exclaimed, "No, I don't need you to reassure me and tell me it's all gonna work out, because people have been telling me that my entire life and it's almost never true!"
Steve glanced at Mitch who stared at the letter.
"It's never true." Max told them, "And I mean of course this asshole curses me. Should've seen that one coming."
Mitch gulped, blinking away tears that glazed her eyes.
Max then walked to Dustin's radio, grabbing it, "If we go to East Hawkins, will this reach Pennhurst?"
"Yeah." Lucas answered.
"Of course." Dustin replied as well."
"Wait- why are we taking about East Hawkins?" Steve asked. Max gave him a look, making his eyes wide, "No, no. NO!"
Max of course didn't listen, and continued to get her stuff and walk out the door, the others tripping and fumbling to catch up with her.
"Max, Max! Seriously!" Steve caught up with her, "Seriously, I'm not joking. I'm not driving you anywhere."
"Steve if you think I'm going to spend what is likely the last day of my life in the armpit that is Mike Wheelers basement," Max told him, "You're out of your mind."
