teeth and smoke

Screaming and the scent of blood filled the air.

A giant-ass hedgehog barreled its way towards Y/n, its serrated, bloodstained teeth bared. Its fur was a bright blue, and it wore red sneakers.

Y/n would LAUGH if they weren't currently fighting for their life.

Y/n thrust their sword upward to block the beast's deadly maw from chomping on their head, and used a kick to send it flying. It tumbled head over ass over a cliff, but it was quickly replaced by three more rabid sonic the hedgehog brethren, large and small alike. Y/n was SO screwed.

"Y/n!" Yang Yixuan slashed behind them, and y/n heard a hair-raising shriek. He appeared next to y/n, sword brandished, and there was barely a hair out of place. 'Damn these danmei boys and their perfect hair.'

"I can't find Shizun, but he should be around here somewhere—" He ducked as another hedgehog jumped and almost took his head off with its razor sharp teeth. He punted it like a football.

Y/n looked around, hoping to spot the telltale flurry of white robes and flashes, but they saw nothing. A strange feeling spilled into their chest, and they somehow just KNEW they had to find him.

"Yixuan, we need to find him. Something doesn't feel right!"

Yang Yixuan looked confused, but nodded anyways. They both slashed and fought their way through the pack of rabid hedgehogs, blood and fur flying as they attacked.

After what felt like forever, y/n skewered the last monster and doubled over in exhaustion while Yang Yixuan scanned their surroundings for more malicious intent.

There was a loud BOOM from a distant part of the forest.

Yang Yixuan and Y/n looked at each other in alarm.

"SHIZUN!"

They ran further into the forest, long since having been separated from their fellow disciples, and came to a fork in the road. Y/n and Yang Yixuan nodded once in immediate understanding and split up, y/n taking the right and Yixuan taking the left.

Y/n carefully but quickly made their way through the dimly lit path, only illuminated by the dappled light from the moon above. Twigs cracked and leaves rustled, and y/n was starting to get a strange feeling.

A feeling... of being watched.

The hair rose on the back of y/n's neck, and they stilled, not daring to make any sudden moves. Y/n listened with their newly-developed cultivator senses, and heard another rustle, this time of fabric.

Y/n whipped around and threw smoke bomb talisman at the place they heard the noise, and dove for cover.

There was coughing and cursing, before a voice called out from the smoke.

"Show yourself, demon! I don't have the patience for your games," a familiar voice growled.

Y/n's eyes popped open, and horror flooded their stomach at who, exactly, they just threw a smoke bomb at...

...Yeah, Liu Qingge was NOT happy.
