Fifth Chapter
"See, we never went out to dinner when I was a kid, so I always had this fascination with chefs and fine dining. Dad actually lets me cook. Taught me to measure by eye. Seasonings to taste, all that stuff, but it's different now in the restaurant world. Everything's on timers. It's like... Fries go in, you push a button. It dings, you take them out. Literally, no guesswork." Kai rambled, not minding unconcious Elena that was just waking up across the table. He kept eating and speaking as Elena started groaning, feeling the pain all over her body, but the most in her head.
"Why am I here?" She asked sighing as she felt her hands hurting because they were tied up with the rope that was covered by vervain's liquid.
"Oh well, I spent eighteen years in abandoned restaurants and now I'm showing off the fruits of my labor." Kai answered casually.
"I don't mean the Mystic Grill." Elena said as her eyes fixed on the sign that said the restaurant's name.
"Oh, you mean like here, here, in Mystic Falls?" Kai asked dumbly. "Sorry. I'm nervous. I'm- you're, like, really pretty."
"Why am I here, Kai?" the despise was notable in her voice. Elena obviously wanted nothing to do with him. But it's not like Kai cared for her feelings. Or anyone's for that matter.
"Well, I took a spell that was keeping supernaturals out of Mystic Falls and I... I, like absorbed it, like," he was struggling to find a right word for his action. "Like ate it, I guess," he added, nonchalantly bringing piece of salad towards his mouth.
"It's cool, huh?" He asked, smiling playfully. Elena just shot him a look, getting really tired of his voice and generally his presence. "First I eat magic and then eventually, I lose it, but, I mean, a huge spell like that? I mean, come on."
"Magic's oozing out of me," he exclaimed with exaggerated expression on his face. "It's all over the place."
Elena rolled her eyes insensibly, she was slowly starting to realize with how much of a psychopath she has to deal with.
"I was so out of control until I met the manager of the grill a few hours ago and he was all like, "yeah, you can't come in here, we're closed, and you have an unconscious girl over your shoulder," he was mimicking the manager. And Elena was being even more irritated by him.
"And I was like "don't judge me." So, then I gave him a heart attack. Tried to. But all I did was make him vomit uncontrollably, which was like, uhh," he wrinkled his nose in disgust before her continued. "alright, let's stop that. So I tried again, and I think I broke his spine. I'm not-I'm not really sure, because the third time I tried the spell, he kind of exploded in blood." He said before he brought the cup of cofee to his mouth. "Whoops."
Elena shook her head in disbelief. Her eyes dilated in surprise. She couldn't believe how he acted so uneffected by all the things he had done. She was sure he was sick in the head. There was definitely something wrong with him.
