Chapter 4 - Helheim
With Trunks and Charlie
Do you ever sometimes sit in silence thinking about nothing in particular?
Rhetorical question, you probably do. Every once in a while, at least. Trunks is a victim of this, but it's sometimes taken as him being deep in thought. Whenever he seems to be in deep thought, possibly thinking of metaphysical or paraphysical concepts, chances are, he's thinking of absolutely nothing.
Naturally, that seems to be the case here.
"Hey, Trunks!" a voice, seemingly female in origin, called out. "Are you okay?"
"Oh crap, yeah, sorry Charlie; I'm alright," Trunks said, still a bit dazed.
"Anything on your mind?" Charlie asked curiously.
"Just thinking of you," Trunks replied quickly, not knowing how he'd explain he was thinking of absolutely nothing.
Charlie blushed at this. "Aww, that's cute...! But I'm not an idiot; what were you actually thinking of?"
Trunks, submitting, replied honestly. "To be honest... nothing. Sometimes I just sit there and think of nothing in particular. Not sure why, though."
"Sounds relaxing... Maybe we could go and think about nothing together later?" Charlie said, thinking of how that would go.
"Sure, why not? It's not that hard, I guess," Trunks replied, looking out of the window on his right. "Oh yeah, you also said you wanted me to teach you how to fly, right?"
"Yep. I can actually summon wings and fly on my own, but your way seems better," Charlie said, making a right turn. "Looks more efficient, I think, and has more uses."
"Once you get the basics like Ki down, everything else comes easily," Trunks said, scratching his chin and noting that she could fly on her own. "Plus, we can go flying together!"
"To be honest, that was my main reason, haha," Charlie responded chuckling a little.
Trunks squeezed a little tighter on his girlfriend's hand, it still being intertwined with hers. Not enough for it to hurt, but Charlie took notice.
"Are you sure everything's alright, Trunks?" Charlie said, growing a little more concerned.
"Even though I'm glad to be here with you, I still worry about what I left behind," Trunks said. Charlie knew about this, but it was still a pressing issue. "I just hope that someone is able to take him out."
Charlie empathised with Trunks, letting him fall on her shoulder. "It's okay now, you don't need to worry... I'm sure everything is okay in your world. I'm sorry."
"Thank you, Charlie. There is no one else I could rely on more than you," Trunks said, regaining his composure. "Love you."
Making Charlie blush once again, she responded aptly. "I love you too."
Charlie then noticed she was nearing her destination and parked in the lot. "We're here."
"Hm, so Helheim, right? Jeez, it's kinda cold," Trunks noted, looking at the excessively blue sky, almost a winter-ish hue, and looked back down. "Doesn't seem very welcoming."
