Chapter 9 - Defeated

Death is a constant... an inevitability. All who live must die someday. Some would have to face down death sooner than others, but the result always remains for everyone. Some view death as beautiful; an end to a life of sorrow. Others view it as wicked and evil, with them attempting to prolong it as long as they could.

Despite that, everything still leads up to...

Death.

Pentagram City Outskirts.

Circling down to the Outskirts of the City located within the Pride Ring. There appears to be three figures, naturally being known to us. Charlie, Vaggie, and Trunks.

"Why am I here again?" Vaggie asked in confusion.

"Charlie said you might be familiar with something I do, so I want to test a theory," Trunks replied, stretching a little.

"That's... the vaguest answer I've ever heard in my life," Vaggie replied sarcastically. "Can you give me a clearer answer?"

"C'mon, you showed me something similar a while ago, and I want to see if there's any correlation," Charlie pleaded.

"You know we've got a hotel to run, right Charlie? Trunks?" Vaggie said.

"It'll only take a second... please?" Trunks asked with a technique that Charlie had taught him... the puppy dog eyes.

"God damn it, fine." Vaggie surrendered and caved in. "What is it, then?"

"Right! So, here's how this goes," Trunks said, getting into position. Then, he commenced several arm movements and shot out both his arms to form a diamond shape between his hands. He shot a notable ki attack into the air. "Burning Attack!"

The blast was a sizeable one, filled heat and energy. It heated up the area even further, even growing a little before dispersing into the air as it continued its way up.

Unusually, Trunks seemed to be panting a little after shooting this attack. Naturally, Charlie caught this, but only created a mental note. "That's weird... that wasn't an energy exhausting attack... Why does he seem exhausted now?"

"That was sick! How the hell did you do that?" Vaggie asked, now getting interested. "Is that what he used when he took out those demons?"

Trunks still seemed out of breath as he crouched down to put his hands on his knees. "Ki manipulation... the thing that resides in us... haah, all."

"Jeez, that looks like that took a lot out of you... Are you alright?" Vaggie asked, worried.

"Yeah... yeah, I'll be fine," Trunks said, recovering. "Hoo. Anyways, does that remind you of anything?"

"For a matter of fact, yeah, it does," Vaggie replied, putting a hand on her chin for a second. "Hold on, check this out."

Charlie, already knowing what she's going to do, perked up. "This is gonna be good."
