Niki's eyes landed on Mingyu sitting few tables away in front of them. They have been staring at him for I don't know how long to the point Niki already memorize what he looks like and what his habit whenever Mingyu thinks he's alone.
Mingyu has this messy curly dark chocolate hair, wearing a simple black polo shirt and a white pantaloons above his knees. From what Niki observed, he likes to pick his ears when whenever he's thinking of something before writing them down in his own notebook. Holding the pen from his right hand, he likes to play with them by rolling the pen in his hands constantly and it really looks cool—well, at least for Niki, it is.
And of course, his signature look. Mingyu always wears this eyeglasses of his and it really suits him at all. He has a poor eyesight bcs of his love to read and study. That's the main reason why their classmates calls him a nerd.
"Psst. We're gonna go to the arcade later, wanna come?" Missy suddenly appeared with her boyfriend besides her, wrapping its hands around her waist and kissed her forehead. Niki felt disgusted.
"No, thanks. I have to study later or my Mom would kill me," Niki declined. Missy made an annoying face before leaving their table alone.
Now, Niki is back staring at Mingyu but this time, the latter is already staring at them. Niki almost widen their eyes before Mingyu instantly looked away as soon their eyes met.
For some unknown reason, they felt their heart beating faster than normal heartbeat should do. Niki's right hand went up to their chest and touched it, feeling the constant beating of their heart.
"Weird.." they mumbled to themselves. Little did they know, Mingyu heard it, too, and thought that they're saying it to him.

"Yeah, Mom. I'll be there later. Bye!" And they ended the call. Niki closed their locker door and was about to leave when a familiar boy appeared and approached them.
It's Mingyu. He looks so troubled while he couldn't contain looking at them with his own eyes. He keeps looking everywhere while playing with his fingers as a sign that he's nervous. Niki felt guilty for no particular reason.
"Is.. everything okay?" Niki asked. Mingyu flinched as soon Niki started talking.
Mingyu nodded. "I just.. wanna say.. I'm sorry."
Sorry? Niki thought. They did not know why Mingyu is saying sorry at all. Nothings comes to mind that Mingyu did something inappropriate towards them. So why is he saying sorry? He did nothing wrong.
"About—" "Sorry that yu find it weird that I accidentally stare at you. I didn't mean it I swear.." So that's the reason why he's saying sorry. But wait, that word is not meant for him. There's a misunderstanding between them!
"No, no! I should be the one saying sorry! I did not mean to say weird towards you.. it's not meant for you!" Mingyu stare at them, astonished.
"So, you don't find me weird?" Mingyu questioned out. Niki immediately shook their heard rapidly.
"Yeah! I'm really sorry if that made you troubled all day!" "Not at all.. I just thought you're referring to me that's all.. I'm glad you didn't really find me weird.." "No, I would never—" A suddenly horn of a car cut them off. When they looked back, they saw their car and their butler waiting outside of the car. Niki immediately looked back to Mingyu and gave him an apologetic look.
"I'm sorry, I have to go." And left without uttering a word. Mingyu stood there, staring at Niki's car until it fades away from his sight.
