"Emmalyn" Annabeth called after her. "Wait, Emmalyn" she called again, louder. Emmalyn could not believe what she saw. They were kissing, and she felt a lot of rage and above her anger, she felt a sense of sadness. "What do you bloody want Annabeth?" she asked, turning around her eyes glossy. "Emmalyn," Annabeth said, softly. "Tell me, Annabeth why did you have to go on and kiss her?" she asked. Emmalyn hated how her voice came out, weak. Emmalyn sounded weak, she was weak."Emmalyn," Annabeth said again her voice getting softer. "Tell me did you or did you not hook up with my sister," Emmalyn asked.
Emmalyn could not look at her, "we did not hook up, she kissed me," Annabeth said. "Of course, she kissed you Annabeth, of course, you didn't want to," Emmalyn said. "I didn't," Annabeth said, her voice as well as her anger rising. "Dexter said the exact same thing when I found them hooking up," Emmalyn said. "Maybe he was telling the truth, have you thought if that. Maybe Evelyn made the first move. Have you wondered that?" Annabeth said. Emmalyn looked away, running her hand through her hair. "Why can't you just believe what I said?" Annabeth asked. "Why should I? I saw both of you through my eyes. I would have never believed it if anyone else told me that, but Annabeth I saw it. How can you possibly deny that?" she asked, the tear finally rolling down her cheek.
"Emmalyn trust me, nothing happened," Annabeth said. Emmalyn looked up, trying not to cry. "Em..." "Don't Annabeth please don't" Emmalyn said. "It was nothing," Annabeth started. "Happy sixteenth birthday Annabeth," Emmalyn said turning around and walking the other way. "If you can't trust the other person in a relationship, maybe you shouldn't have one, because of what happened with Dexter you are not listening to what I have to say," Annabeth said, surprising both of them. Emmalyn turned around "Then maybe we shouldn't be together then," Emmalyn said walking away, coiling the sketch she made for her. She drove home and locked herself in her room. She could not get the image out of her mind.
She looked at her painting, it had green paw prints all over it. Evelyn's cat walked over her painting, everything seemed to go wrong for her. When she finally felt like she found someone, someone she could love, Evelyn had to take that person too. She felt her door open with a slight creek. She didn't have to look up to see who it was, "She tastes like strawberries did you know?" Evelyn said.
"Get out of my room, Evelyn before I kill you," she said sitting up. Evelyn didn't go, instead, she leaned against the doorframe, "it's pathetic truly how you ever thought anybody would want you if they could have me, you know it was the same with Dexter and now Annabeth. She is special you know she smells of lilies, strawberries, and lilies a strange combination indeed. You know her hair is extremely soft, great to run your hand through. Did you love her Emmalyn? I guess you did but the tragedy of all is that she never loved you at all " Evelyn closed the door. That night Emmalyn cried herself to sleep.
The morning she sat with her mother and sister at breakfast, "Emmalyn wear a bit of makeup, you look horrible" her mother started. "Yes Mum," Emmalyn said, looking at her scrambled eggs."Grace is seeing that Catrina girl, what a shame" her mother said. Emmalyn looked up and met Evelyn's smirking face," it's wrong?" she asked. "No it is not wrong but it is also not normally expected out of our children," their mother said. "Mum what would you say if one of us dates a girl?" she asked. Emmalyn tightened the grip around her fork. "I don't think either one of you is like that, and if one of you is, it would directly affect the company so be careful, because I don't want another scandal at any cost," she said pointing at the public breakup of Emmalyn and Dexter, and calmly went back to her meal. Emmalyn looked down, nearly everyone in the town knew about it, she can't afford another scandal maybe Annabeth and Emmalyn parted for the best, still it hurt a lot.
"What a shame," Evelyn whispered going back to her toast. After breakfast, they went their separate ways. Emmalyn slung her bag to her left and started to go down the stairs. She pulled out her phone as soon as she sat in her car. She had not checked her phone since the evening and when she finally opened it, she found a video sent to her by Sofia and several messages. She clicked opened it and tilted her head to the side. It was a video of two girls kissing suddenly she felt a chill run down her spine. It was a video of Emmalyn and Annabeth kissing, the kiss at Nicolas's party. She looked at the title "Rosewood High's sweetheart caught locking lips with a fellow student at a party". She immediately called Sofia. "At exactly midnight, this video has been sent to everyone at school. The whole school has seen it, and I don't have any idea who would do something like that" Sofia said as soon as she picked.
A name immediately came to her mind, but she wouldn't, she was her sister after all. Emmalyn tried to even her breathing, and her mother's words came to her 'another scandal' she closed her eyes "I don't think I should go to school today," "How many days will you run? nearly everyone has seen it. You have to face it someday" she said from the other. "Just come to school and we will figure something out, you know what wait there I am coming to pick you up" Sofia stayed. Emmalyn leaned against her seat and waited for Sofia. Her life was falling apart again.
