August 25th, 1777
To an old friend, Dalia.
"Today's the fourth of July, by the way," You had mentioned offhandedly. I halted from reading my book, Harry Potter I remember, and looked at you.
"Really?" I inquired, finding my phone and yes, the day before my unexplainable travels was the fourth of July. It's such a strange coincidence, and yet a sense of warmth fills my chest whenever I hear of the date today."Huh."
"Oh yeah, that reminds me- have you heard of Hamilton?"
"Hamil-who?"
Honestly speaking- as I look back on that strangely normal day- I wish I would've cared enough to educate myself to at least a bit of American history. But alas, there was no reason to do so. It's strange to think that I once didn't know someone I hold so dear. Honestly, my dear, you would've loved to meet Alexander, even if he's different to his portrayal in Hamilton.
Well, of course there was a reason I should've asked, I just wasn't aware of such yet. After all, I presumed knowing Washington was a president was enough, because I honestly just didn't care. I admit that I miss those times. When I hadn't need to look over my shoulder every time I go anywhere, when I could dress however and the people would greet me with a basic sense of human decency.
I quickly found out that I did not fit into the mold that my body puts me into. The 18th century is not fair- less fair than our world, even- but Alexander's here, with me. I've met people- Vaughan, Laurens, Tilghman, Meade, Harrison... I can't wait to tell you all about them.
I know how lucky I happen to be. I'm lucky to have been born taller than most men here, I'm lucky to have gotten an education, I'm lucky to have been born white in this society, but most of all, I'm lucky to have had you as my friend. That day you convinced me to watch that musical with the catchy music likely saved my life, even if the inaccuracies are outrageously large in numbers. Never does a day go by when I amn't eternally grateful for your friendship over the years. I can't help but wonder where is you are now, I pray that you're continuing to live a great life.
If you ever even read this, my dear, know that you are loved. This may be selfish, but I hope that you haven't forgotten me.
Best regards to Kacius-

"Oi, Layden!" She quickly slammed down her quill, flipping the piece of parchment around in panic. A fellow aide lifted an eyebrow, walking up to her. Her icy blue eyes met deep brown. "What is it you are writing?"
"Nothing of interest, sir," she lied as easily as she breathes air, standing up, and blocking the view of the parchment. She ignores the few brown strands that fell out of her ponytail, noting that she should fix it later. " 'Tis simply a personal letter. A friend has gotten sick recently, and while she has assured me she'll be fine, I can't help but worry. Do you require my assistance with anything, sir?"
He's silent for a second. "Aye, I have been informed that we'll be introduced to a Major General in the near future with the help of Hamilton and Laurens, and I can't seem to find them. Do you perhaps know where they are? I have some urgent things to discuss with them. My condolences, by the way."
She racks her brain as to why he would need them. "Thank you, and perhaps I could fetch them for you, sir?"
"That would be great, thank you, Layden." And so she was off into the autumn evening, having an idea of where Alexander is residing, and that Laurens was tasked to suffer through Alexander's strange moods.
