2017

It was sophomore year.

I was putting on my eyeliner when Tina burst inside my room, shaking her head.

"Rock and roll, let's go!" She shouted and I rolled my eyes, picking up my bag from the table. We went downstairs to see our mother preparing breakfast with Halsey looking at her tablet.

"Mom, don't you think you made a mistake in giving Halsey an IPad?" I scowled as I sat next to her, and my little sister turned toward me with the nastiest glare she could master.

"It's literally the first day of school and you guys are already glaring at each other." Tina spoke while drinking her coffee, black coffee. How can someone drink happily black coffee? It doesn't make any sense.

"Your sister is right." My mother said, she gave us grilled toast with cheese and tomatoes like how we love. As we started to eat, I heard my mother coughing crazily.

"Mama, are you okay?" Tina, beside her slapped lightly her back.

My mother has cancer of the brain, she has a tumour and she needs immediately have to go through chemotherapy. The only thing that stops us is money.

"I'm fine." She muttered as she started coughing again, I didn't want to stay here any longer knowing that I can't do anything to help my mother.

"Tina, we need to go or else we will be late." I scolded my older sister and tied my shoelaces.

"Have a fun day, my beautiful daughters." My mother said as she kissed both of us on the forehead, I smiled forcefully, knowing that it was one of her act then went outside the house.

"Who is going to drop us?" I asked, a bit excited that it will be Jay dropping us at school.

"Roman will drop us at school with his new and fancy car, bro I always wanted that car." My sister said with admiration as she joined me, my smile fell from my face and I nodded silently.

"That's...nice."

We saw the beautiful car black matte coming right toward us, Tina opened the door from behind and let me go inside, after we sat inside the car she closed the door and I saw Jay turning toward us with a big smile while Roman was sitting on the driver seat with his black shades on his eyes.

"Hi, beautiful girls!" Jay exclaimed and I immediately felt myself smiling like a little girl.

"Jay, how were you doing during summer?!" I asked happily to him who winked at me.

"Been hanging out with this weirdo." He rolled his eyes at Roman who hasn't said anything except pull the gear and began to drive.

"You guys! We got an email from the director band who told us to play again in his bar." Tina said as she checked out her phone. I let them talk about music stuff, it wasn't my thing. I prefer to do art flowers which my grandmother taught me how to do it, I inherited this passion from her.

"We are here." Roman spoke for the first time, I gulped as I saw my school where many teenagers were surrounding the entrance. He parked the car in the parking lot and we exited the lavishing car. The guys followed the coach who wanted to speak with them, leaving me with Tina who searched for her friends.
