his mother

"Maria!" I saw the little girl in Roman's room, I hugged her tightly. She was crying loudly, on the ground.

I woke up on the couch and was left alone in the living room, I saw the blood was cleaned up and the men weren't there. I heard a sobbing noise from upstairs and went to check out.

"Mommy is dead!" She yelled and kept clinging on my body to seek comfort. I rubbed her small back gently and wiped her tears.

"It's going to be alright, I'm here." I told her and put her on the bed, after some time of pouring out all the tears she fell asleep.

"Manelle." I turned around and saw Matteo, I sighed in relief and he came toward us.

"Didn't you know about this—"

"No, I knew nothing about this. It seems my father and my brother has planned this behind my back." He seemed bitter when he said that, he looked at Maria with a worried face.

"Is she alright?"

"After letting out the tears, she fell asleep. I think she saw her mother's body." I said, he sighed and sat down beside me on the bed while looking at Maria.

"Ria is not even her mother."

What? I don't understand.

"What's the deal about Ria? I heard Roman calling her a bitch and he told me that she hurt his real mother." I asked him, I had enough of those secrets going around my back. Who is Ria Caberno? What did she do to make Carlos go crazy?

"Ria is not our mother, she was the mistress of my father. Her family and our family have some history together, they killed our ancestors and we did the same until the leader of their family killed our grandfather. Ria has been obsessed with my father, she even stalked him and was being a glue stick during his childhood but my father didn't love her instead he loves another woman which is our mother."

"Our mother is named Serena, they met in high-school and fell in love. Ria couldn't stand her first love avoiding her, that's why she attempted to poison my mother. Luckily, she was saved by my uncle and my family wanted her to pretend to be dead so that my father could finally take revenge. For years, my mother stayed hidden in Italy while my father was planning his revenge."

"He finally succeed." I finished his story and Matteo nodded.

"They thought it was better to kill her when we know for sure that our enemies are under Roman's orders. Soon the men of their family and our family will merge together to create a big organization." He explained the last ends and I nodded, now understood the revenge that his father was planning.

"So Maria never met her mother?"

"Well, Maria was one when our mother had to leave us. Whenever we go to Italy for holidays, Maria would address her as aunt and Ria didn't know that she's still alive, she never came with us for holidays since we were going to visit family and nobody liked her." He shrugged and leaned against the chair, exasperated.

"I feel bad for Maria, she had to see the dead body of someone who practically raised her." I leaned forward her body and swept some of her hair to avoid sweats.
