I walk briskly through the halls back to my room when a strong hand closes around my wrist and pulls me back.I turn around indignantly. Who dares to hold me, the willy-nilly princess of the land, like this? I was about to open my mouth in protest when I look into the green eyes of Eliah.
"Get the hell off me, you bastard," I hurl at him.He actually lets go of me and looks at me intensely. "Princess, I didn't want to disturb you, but my being here is no coincidence". I look at him questioningly. "I am not from Fantasia, but from a kingdom beyond the mountains. I am descended from the great warriors of the Assassins and I am here to tell you that my people are in great danger. I am here to ask you to accompany me to my land and help me."
Eliah now looks at me not so condescendingly, but rather pleadingly, which astonishes me.Why should I help him, of all things, and especially with what? My greatest attention, however, has been claimed by the assassins.
Do they really exist? I don't let anything of this emotional chaos out.I continue to look at him and he slowly seems to become more distant. He lets go of me completely and just turns around to turn as he says: "I thought you were different. I thought you understood." He finally turns around and leaves.
I am now standing in the hallway completely confused. Who is this man and what is this great danger?
It is evening by now and I sit at my dressing table while one of my maids braids my dark hair into a beautiful knot and fastens a few loose strands so that they hang loosely and in gentle waves in my face.
Rubies are braided in my hair and my dress is also blood red. At the top of the collar are sewn white lilies. The emblem of my homeland. It is tightly cut and has gorgeous long sleeves. I usually never wear dresses like this, but today I am looking forward to the evening.
My eyes are dark framed and my lips are also deep red. I look in the mirror and hardly recognize myself. At this moment there is a knock and my mother enters. She herself is wearing a dress of purple silk and beautiful pale purple stones. She also wears white lilies on her collar and a silver crown on her head. She truly looks like the queen. She examines me from top to bottom and I defy her gaze and turn in a circle. She looks pleased. I take one last scrutinizing look at myself and then walk down to the entrance hall with my mother.
The whole hall goes silent as the royal fanfares sound and we are announced. I let my eyes wander over the crowd and am amazed at how many people have accepted the invitation. I was about to leave when I recognize Eliah at the foot of the stairs.
He wears a close-fitting jacket with officer flaps on the shoulders. His jacket is black, but it has red symbols sewn into it that I don't recognise.
He looks at me just as I look at him and I finally make my way downstairs with my parents.I feel as if the whole room is holding its breath as I walk down the stairs and head towards the throne with my parents in front.
At the top, my parents take their seats and I stand to the right of my mother's throne. The room is overflowing with gold and shines in all colours.
