We rode again through the forest where we came from, but this time we took a different direction.
Silently we rode side by side, each hung after his thoughts. In the sky, the sun moved further and further towards the zenith and it must be noon. After about an hour, the nature slowly changed from forest to open meadows and fields.
"Do you know where we are," I asked after a while, breaking the silence between us. "I only know that we are on the right path. We are not far from the mountains where it goes to Eragon," he says, looking at me.
"Are you hungry," he asks and I shake my head. I look around at the area we just rode on. As far as I could see there was soft grass with scattered trees and bushes. The ground was slowly becoming sandier.
I retrieved the compass from Eliah on my coat and was disappointed to see that the needle of the compass was still spinning in circles. "The compass can only show you the way to your home if you know where that is yourself, my lady," Eliah said, pointing to my heart.
"In it you must feel where you belong and only then can the compass tell you the way there".I look at the spinning needle that reflected the chaos inside me.
We rode for a while longer when we spotted a village and many people working in the fields around us. I watched in amazement as they plowed the field or gathered grain. We dismounted and led the horses along the workers, who nodded to us in a friendly way.
The people had colorful robes and jingling jewelry, as well as obsidian colored skin. We walked towards the village and recognized many small stalls selling endless things. I couldn't help but be amazed, and looked around everywhere.
There were colors I had never seen, scents I had never smelled, and so many sounds and languages I had never heard. I seemed to have stopped because Eliah nudged me from behind and I turned to him. "You seem quite amazed, don't you princess?" he asked, smiling at my face bursting with joy. I beamed and turned back around.
"I... I can't believe this is all part of Fantasia and I've never seen it before," I said in amazement, with a bitter undertone. Eliah seemed to have tied up our horses, came up to me and grabbed my hand.
"Come, my lady, let me show you the beauty of your land," he murmured, pulling me into a more colorful world I could never have dreamed of.
Eliah and I wandered around the entire market, because I wanted to see every, and really everything.
There hab spices that shone in all colors and iridescent beads that were worn in chains around the neck.I kept feeling Eliah's gaze on me and he seemed to smile more than usual, which in turn made me even happier, if that was even possible. After a while I got tired and sat down in the shade to take a little break from the many impressions. A short time later Eliah also came with a couple of drinks, where to this day I couldn't tell what they tasted like.
"And how do you feel," he asks me. "I feel terrific, happy, but also totally wiped out." I confess and gratefully accept one of the glasses of cool liquid. I take a few sips and slowly become more alert. "What's this?", I ask him, peering at the dark, rather brownish liquid in my glass. "It's cocoa, my lady," he says, looking at me a little confused. "Cocoa?", I ask, and Eliah laughs harshly. "Yes cocoa. A kind of drink made from a bean that grows on trees here." he says with a laugh, pointing above the tree above us. I am fascinated by everything I see I smile. Cocoa it is, interesting.
