I stood on the balcony for a while before I decided that the day had been long enough and I just wanted to go to bed.
I looked one last time at the dark fields and then I pulled the balcony door closed behind me.
I was walking through the corridors, tired and lost in my thoughts, when I almost bumped into a guard, who then almost hit herself in front of my feet and begged for forgiveness.

Normally I enjoy scaring the guards, but today I simply step over him and climb the stairs to my room.
As soon as I open the door, I rip open the side of my dress and with a satisfying rattle it falls of me.
I kick my shoes across the room and then brush out my hair.
After washing and changing, I lie in bed staring at the ceiling.

Within one evening, my entire life had turned upside down. This morning my life was still colorless and monotonous, now I have for the first time in my life the feeling to take my life into my own hands and finally realise my dreams.

But that is exactly what scares me. Am I ready for the responsibility and for this life?
I think of my mother, who will be furious, and of my father, who will probably not understand all this.

I lie in bed reaching for Eliah's compass, his father's compass. I realize again that I hardly know him. As soon as I finish this thought, I jump up.
Emma! Man, I'm thinking too much.

This is my chance to live my dream. Before I can change my mind, I put on a pair of sturdy black pants and a long-sleeved top, also black. I tie my dark brown hair into a knot and put on my black riding boots and lace them up to below my knee. I search for my black duffel bag and throw together a few sensible things, like a coat and provisions. I look around my room one last time and then tie my dagger to my thigh and two more each to my forearm.

I take the compass off the bed and see that the needle is turning in a circle.
I am at my destination, home. This is still my home, but before I rack my brain any further, I throw the compass into the bag and cover my face with a cloth so that only my eyes are visible.

I look around one last time and step through the door towards my new life.

I crept through the corridors, not knowing where I wanted to go.
At some point I stood in front of the east wing, the part where our guests were accommodated. I opened the door quietly and crept past the rooms until I stood in front of room number 225.

In this room Eliah lives and before I could lose all courage, I knocked, maybe a little too hard. The door swung open and Eliah stood in the doorway. Upper body fei. What had I been thinking. I tried to keep my eyes by his face, but the powerful muscles all over still didn't end it for me.

He seemed to have just showered, because his hair still hung damply in his face. He seemed to notice my look and started leaning against the doorframe in a way that made his muscles look extra good and grinned cheekily at me. What his asshole, I thought to myself. "What did I do to deserve this ninja-packed princess? I guess you just can't resist me how?" he said amused.
