(Author's note) Sorry for the slow updating, it's rather difficult to write one shots, actually. I don't like this one as much as my others, but it was a cute mental image, and I needed to update. Also, THIS COLLECTION HAS 2000 READS! WHAT IS THIS?! Thank you all so much for reading! (End author's note)

The Doctor's bedroom door creaks open, waking him from his light slumber, He sits up, and turns on the lamp that sits on his bedside table. There stands his companion, just like the night before, and the night before that. The Doctor sighs, pulling his blankets up around him like a nest. The T.A.R.D.I.S. has taken to turning down the temperature at night, probably to save power or something. Rose steps through his doorway, eyes vacant and staring. Sleepwalking again, are we? For the past few days, this has been a nightly occurrence. The Doctor reluctantly shrugs off his layers of blankets, and slips out of bed. He shivers as his bare feet hit the ground, and rubs his hands over the flannel of his pyjamas, hoping to add warmth with the friction. Walking to the girl, he slips his arms around her, hugging her lightly before leading her back to her own room. Tucking her under the covers of her bed, he walks tiredly back to his dwellings. Falling back into bed, he once again drifts back into dreams.
When he wakes for the second time that night, the same scenario presents itself. His companion is back, once more staring at the walls as if lost. The Doctor mutters something under his breath. He had taken her on an adventure three days ago to a planet that greatly increases your creativity while you are there. It was a great place for brainstorming, but unfortunately caused vivid dreams for the next week or so, or in some cases, sleepwalking.
Stepping out of bed once more, the Doctor walks back over to his companion. He isn't actually that tired, but can't have her walking around and potentially injuring herself. What to do?He steps forward, touching her shoulder lightly. Maybe if he wakes her up, that would be helpful? Or were you not supposed to do that. He can't risk damaging her fragile human mind. Her eyes turn to him, almost convincing him that she's awake. "Rose?" His soft voice prompts no response. Right.Taking her by the hand, he steers her back to her bed, only to have her go limp in his arms halfway there. Great. He adjusts her position and lifts her carefully, cradling her like a child. Just a little farther.
He walks towards her room, taking care not to trip. However, as he nears her door, he finds that the hallways of the T.A.R.D.I.S. are growing longer with each step, effectively halting his progress. The Doctor looks up at the ceiling, face drawn into a frown. What does the T.A.R.D.I.S. think she's doing? Just as he is about to set his companion down and investigate the problem, the blue box drops the temperature. What had once been a chilly 42 is now a completely freezing -17 (farhenhight). Gasping like he has been dunked in ice water, the Doctor hugs his companion close, fighting off the chill with the combined heat of their bodies. Rose presses closer to him as well, subconsciously trying to get warmer.
Muttering curses at the time machine, the Doctor has no choice but to go back to his own room. He nudges the door open with his foot, and lays Rose down on his bed. Covering her with the available blankets except one, he takes it and sits down on the metal ground. Sleeping on the floor never hurt anyone. Although, sleeping on the floor in arctic temperatures sure is uncomfortable.
After about five minutes of huddling near the wall and shivering, the Doctor realises that this isn't going to work. Not only that, but he can feel the beginnings of frostbite starting in his nose. Resignedly, he gets up, and drapes his blanket over his companion, along with all the others. Walking around the bed to the opposite side, he pulls back the covers, and slips under them. As the warmth sinks into him, he closes his eyes and smiles.
As he drifts off, the gap between him and his companion closes slowly, until he is curled around her. Realising this, he pulls away, but soon finds her once again snuggled against him. Giving up, he slips his arms around her. This was going to be hard to explain in the morning.
