It was getting dark and Atticus was left in front of the palace listening to the crows and owls in the distance. He turned to his sister who was sat on the steps shuffling a deck of cards. They weren't normal poker cards or anything, but they were disguised as such. The type of witch she was destined to be called for them, suiting her powers extremely well.
Each witch had their own type and it had nothing to do with generation, more with who you are instead of your parents. Their mother was a green witch and found herself around plants, their father had been a dark witch and obviously practiced dark magic, and his sister was an astrology witch - hence the tarot cards.
Atticus however? He didn't know. He never discovered what type of witch he was, seemingly powerless. Perhaps he wasn't powerless and just didn't know what it was that he's capable of. He hoped he wasn't powerless because he'd be the biggest disappointment the witches had ever seen in over a million years.
"When's the sexy prince coming back? I'm bored," Atticus said as he tossed some random stick he found on the marble steps and threw it as far as he could in front of him.
He didn't get a response from his astrology witch sister, instead he got silence as she focused on the cards in her hands. Turning his attention to her as she finally fixed her gaze upon him; she pulled a card from the top of her deck and placed it gently in his hands.
The Chariot.
"It represents succor," Vienna began to explain, "providence and triumphs, but also- war and vengeance and trouble-" she cut herself off, drawing in a nervous breath. She grabbed her brother's hand and squeezed them tightly, "what if everything goes wrong and we can't do it? Atticus what if we- what if we start another war?" She spoke quietly, but also rushed.
Atticus pulled his hands away and shook his head, now placing both of his palms on her shoulders to attempt and calm his little sister. He knew why she was worried, it was a dangerous mission they were planning to attempt. Not only that but Vienna's cards had never been wrong before, meaning they were going to need to come up with a strategy to steer them away from another war.
The kingdom couldn't afford another war. It honestly looked like if a whore was the king of this place - which honestly, wasn't a bad thing to Atticus. Perhaps the king was into men. Shaking the thought away, his thoughts focused back on Vienna.
"That won't happen, alright? We can just come up with a plan," he spoke calmly, "something to stray away from that outcome. Besides! The other side of that card has a good outcome, right? We just need to be careful."
He stopped speaking when the prince exited the palace with some woman behind him. She looked about Vienna's age, sixteen. He noticed how his sister's eyes slightly focused on the woman behind the prince. He slightly smirked, coming to a stance and brushing off the dirt on his ripped jeans. He adjusted his crossbody bag and turned towards the prince.
"Alright," Prince Hendrix spoke sternly, "we found you both a place. It's dark and on the edge of the kingdom and a bit dusty, but so is everything else around here. Plus is has a bath," he glanced over at Atticus when he mentioned the bath part. Of course, Atticus hadn't actually bathed in like what? Honestly he couldn't remember, so he definitely had some sort of stench coming off of him.
Atticus grinned, "will the all-mighty be joining me in said bath?"
Josiah only ignored him, his face slightly cringing as possibly even the thought of hopping in that bathtub, "Let's just- let's go," he spoke and led the group away, avoding any sort of eyecontact with Atticus.
Atticus leaned to the side towards his sister, "he definitely likes me," he whispered in her ear with a slight snicker. He only earned an eyeroll from the female witch as she sped up to catch up with the other two.

The group arrived at Reyna's small hut, being placed near the border where the line between royalty and Witch Woods ended. It was definitely up against the wall diving both civilizations, the roof of her hut being made of straw and often falling on the other side of the divider. It was a little wrecked, Reyna not being able to take care of it while she was locked in that cell. It was also small, big enough only for a single person to live in. However, she would have to make do with both witches staying with her for a while. Well, at least until she was hunted down by the royal police.
Atticus rushed in first, jumping on the roach-infested couch. He glanced up at Josiah and winked, only to receive an annoyed look from the prince. Though, there was definitely a slight blush on his cheeks. He wasn't used to the attention and flirting, often times being held by himself in the palace. Nobody was to even glance in his direction sometimes. So it was nice to see the prince, even if he highly disliked the witch, watch his tongue and be nice for once.
However, Reyna knew he would snap sometime.
As the prince and witch argued over the bath, Reyna turned towards Vienna who was staring at some card in her hands. "Hey," she spoke softly, "Vienna right? I'm Reyna." The female witch jumped, shoving her card in her jacket pocket as she glanced up at Reyna.
"Yeah, Vienna," she spoke nervously. She definitely wasn't the type to meet new people, most likely usually only sticking with her brother. Reyna smiled, finding herself not fearing the witches like she had been brought up to do.
The two seemed harmless, neither of them seeming capable of murdering or taking over the palace. Vienna was sweet and kept to herself, discussing words with only her brother. She was also smart, Reyna could tell just by looking at her. Atticus, on the other hand, made a lot of sexual jokes and teased the prince into an abyss. The two were literally fighting over Atticus taking a bath which wasn't really something that screamed 'dangerous' to her.
"No! You can't clean a whore," Atticus shouted and shoved Josiah away from him, his black painted nails scratching the prince's side as he shoved him. He then grinned, leaning slightly against the couch with his legs spread and one arm hanging off of the couch. "Unless you join me," the male witch spoke seductively.
Josiah huffed and threw his arms in the air, storming over to Reyna. His eyes were clouded with anger and his face was slightly red again upon seeing the witch trying to seduce him.
"I'm going out for a bit. Get some food for them," he said then leaned slightly towards her, "and perhaps a breath mint." He left the hut, slamming the door behind him.Reyna had a feeling she would end up being the babysitter.
Not only for Josiah this time, but for all of them.
