Envy was making her way through a town in New York, it was around lunch time and people were all over. Envy made a stop at a pizza stand then went to sit down on a bench in one of the larger parks.
Kids were running all over, laughing and joking. Envy felt a pang of jealousy, she had never had a childhood at least not a normal one. She had always wanted a family, she loved her sisters but she wanted something more.
Another figure plopped down next to her with a heavy sigh. Envy turned to see a young girl, she swung her book bag onto the ground and it landed with a thump. The demon turned back to what she was doing, trying to ignore the presence next to her.
"Don't you just hate it when your life just gets torn to peaces?"
The girl's voice was soft, almost soothing to Envy's ears. The other girl turned to face the newcomer.
"Not really." The lie slipped out easily, Envy was used to lying to humans, in her line of work she had to. She also wanted to end the conversation as quickly as possible, she wasn't to used to going into full blown conversations with people who were not her sisters.
"I mean seriously! School totally sucks! My boyfriend ended up cheating on me and my parents totally don't even care! They are too busy with my sister! UGH!"
Guess we're doing this then....
"How long were you guys dating?"
"Two years!" The girl's eyes had become shiny as tears streamed down her face, messing up the mascara.
"Huh, that seems like a long time I guess. Were there any signs that things might have been shaky?"
Envy tried to think about how Pride would handle the situation. Pride has always been better at having NORMAL conversations than me... plus I don't think this really qualifies as normal...
"NO! There wasn't any sign at all! Then all of a sudden I catch them in the locker room making out! Like COME ON!" The girl's voice got louder drawing a few stares in their direction.
"Oh how rude of me! I didn't even introduce myself! I'm sorry for just dumping everything on a complete stranger!"
Envy smiled shyly, turning to look at the gravel under her feet.
"My name is Wrynn! Nice to meet you..." She beamed all anger and sadness completely gone in an instant making Envy raise her eyebrows in surprise.
"Nice to meet you .... and my name is Delia.." Envy's face flushed pink, "and it's alright to talk about that kind of stuff I mean I don't really mind, although I might have a bit of trouble responding back."
Wrynn's smile widened at the sound of the demon's human name. "That's such a pretty name!!" Envy's blush deepened, making her face take on a red tint.
"What are you doing out here? I'm pretty sure that the school is pretty far from here.."
"Yeah... as soon as I saw Derek with that other chick I kinda freaked and ran out, missed most of my classes to..." Wrynn's voice took on a saddened tone to it once more.
"I take it Derek is your ex then?"
She nodded her head slowly before looking up at Envy who looked up at her at the same time. Their eyes locked for just a second before both girls turned away quickly.
A breeze started to pick up, making Wrynn's long black hair wave around her face. Her makeup was still smeared making her look almost dangerous.
"You know... I think you should just forget him. I mean the way he was using you was totally not fair! He also wasted two whole years of your life, you probably should just move on."
Wrynn nodded her head again a new glint to her eyes, "I suppose you're right Delia, I mean he was a total dick!! Using me like that, he thinks he'll get away with it just because he is hot and all! How annoying."
Envy let a grin settle on her face, "One more thing Wrynn.... we are definitely going to need to fix you up before you go anywhere." She reached into the little purse that she had brought with her before drawing out her emergency makeup kit with a sly grin.
"Shall we then?"
Wrynn laughed for the first time making Envy's mood lighten even more before she leaned forward and began to fix the heartbroken girl's face.
