~ Chapter four ~

Episode four: the body

Ivy was at a loss for words, they'd gotten the call late at night. Her and Leo were both falling asleep watching Halloween for the hundredth time, Jonathan's voice was unrecognisable at first because he was crying. He told them that the cops had found Will's body in the quarry, he was dead. Right away Leo got in his car and drove straight over there, Ivy stayed home to give the two of them their space.

It could have been minutes or hours for all's she knew, her mom and dad weren't back from the convention yet and Steve had gone out with his friends. So Ivy sat on a chair in the kitchen staring at the glass of water in front of her, she didn't understand how this could have happened to a little innocent kid. Someone who wouldn't harm a fly, he truly deserved so much better, he deserved to live his life.

Will was an amazing kid, he was shy at first but once you brought up something that he was interested in he didn't stop talking. Ivy had watched him grow up because he was always with Leo's little sister Lou, her heart hurt for the young girl in that moment. She didn't know how she herself would react if she lost Leo, she could imagine that Laura was experiencing that pain right now.

A loud slam made the girl flinch, seconds later Leo came into the kitchen looking rough but he still gave her a smile.

"Have you not moved since I left?" His brows furrowed.

"Uh, no. Why?" She finally picked up her glass and took a sip of now tepid water.

"Ivy I've been gone all night" took the glass off her and poured it in the sink before filling it back up with cold water for her.

"I guess I got a little stuck in my head" she squeezed her eyes shut. "Have you spoken to Lou?"

"I called my mom last night, said she's a wreck, hasn't come out of her room since they got the news."

"She's gonna be so heartbroken" she wiped a tear from the corner of her eye.

"I'm gonna take a shower then we have to go to school" he looped his arm around her waist and rested his head on her shoulder, "love you"

"Love you too" she hugged him back and he wondered up the stairs.

Neither of them particularly wanted to go to school but Leo insisted that they could both do with the distraction, so Ivy went along with him. Going to their classes was another story, the two of them and Eddie were hiding out in the woods behind the school smoking.

"Shit, in the quarry. Really?" Eddie said.

"The whole families a mess, I only left this morning because they had to go to the morgue. To confirm the body y'know" Leo spoke quietly.

"I just wish we could do something to help, I can't imagine what Joyce is going through" Ivy said in between pulls of the joint.

"Shit, hide the paraphernalia. Someone's coming" Eddie said throwing his bag behind a tree out of sight.

Ivy flicked the joint away from them and took a gulp of her water just as someone came into the clearing. It was an older student that was known for sucking up to the principal, he looked to the three teens and cleared his throat.

"Your brother told me I might find you here." He looked directly to the girl, "the principal needs you to come for an interview" he said pushing his glasses up his nose.

"An interview?" Leo asked him.

"That's all she told me okay, I don't know what for" the kid held his hands up in defence.
