Chapter 18

Oakley's POV

It's been more then a week since Mason's accident and he still has not woken up. I've only left the hospital a few times to take a shower. I was scared I was going to miss something even if it was bad. I've cried so much and talked to him a lot hoping he could hear me.

Today I walked into the hospital after going home to change and take a shower. I've only been wearing Mason's sweatshirts because it reminds me of him.

I walked into his room and he was still the same. Sleeping in the hospital bed with a tube down his throat, many wires, and more. I sat on my hospital bed then held his hand.

I then started taking him, "Babe I know your still in there. I know your hurting but I am too. I miss you so much, your voice, your smile, when your arms are wrapped around me, and so much more. I love you and I know you do too so please come back to me."

Right as I said that I felt him squeeze my hand. "Baby are you awake? If you are please open your eyes for me."

I ran my hand through his hair which I know calms him down. A few seconds later he opened his eyes. He was still pretty out of it.

"Hey baby I missed you."

He tried moving but then stopped right away.

"Don't try to move your going to be in a lot of pain."  He just nodded at me. "I'm going to go get Will, okay?"

He once again just nodded. I walked out of his room then saw Will. "Hey Will, Mason just woke up."

"Okay I think this means the tube can come out."

I nodded then walked to Mason's room Will right behind me.

We got in then Will said, "Hey Mason good news that your up. How about we take that tube out?"

Mason just nodded then Will went over and removed the tube. "How are you doing Mason?" Will asked.

"Everything hurts." He replied in a very quiet voice.

"Is there something that hurts more then everything else?"

I had Mason's hand in mine the whole time. "I have a really bad headache and my wrist. What even happened?"

"That's all normal. You were hit by a drunk driver on your way home. You've been in a coma for nine days. You had a brain bleed, open fracture on your left wrist, and some internal bleeding. The internal bleeding has gone away on it's own but there probably still be pain. Everything else you had surgery on and will be okay. Just a lot of physical therapy on your wrist."

You could tell that was a lot for Mason to take in but he finally spoke up, "Okay, when can I go home and take this neck brace off?"

"I'll take that off right now and your probably looking at three to five days."

"Okay"

Will took his neck brace off then asked if he needed pain meds which Mason rejected. I think he's scared of getting addicted after what he did. After that Will said to get some rest then left.

" You okay babe?" I said while stroking his hair.

"I guess just some pain. Can you please come lay with me?" He replied.

"I don't want to hurt you."

"You won't I swear."

I laid down by him still running my hand through his hair. "My dad said he'll be here in a few hours but we can still take a nap."

He nodded then fell asleep and I did soon after.

About two hours later I woke up and noticed my dad. "Hey dad" I said getting out of the hospital bed.

"Hey sis, how's he doing?"

"He's okay in a lot of pain but resting right now."

"I'm glad he woke up."

"I am too, I really missed him."

"I know you did."

Me and my dad talked for a little then Mason woke up. My dad talked to him for a little then left.

It was now night time and Mason was very tired, I too was.

"Can you please sleep with me tonight?" Mason asked.

"Of course." I replied.

I got in bed then kissed him.

"Good night babe. I love you so much." I said.

"Goodnight baby. Love you too, lots." He replied.

I smiled then ran my fingers through his hair. I know this makes him calm and go to sleep faster. Not long after he fell asleep and I did too.
