Chapter 21

Authors Note: Right now in the story Oakley is 16 and Mason is 17 but I'm now doing a one year time jump. Now Oakley is 18 and Mason is 19 going off to college.

Oakley's POV

This last year was filled with so many good memories with me, my dad, Hailey, and Mason. But now these times have to come to a stop. Mason is going off to college in Florida but, I'm staying here in Chicago to study photography. I'm not going to college but it's a class I take for a year.

I was in mine and Mason's room helping him back to leave tonight. I stopped backing when I saw his high school baseball jersey and his baseball sweatshirt.

"Can I please keep your high school baseball jersey and sweatshirt?" I asked.

He stopped packing then replied, "Yes just because it's you. I also don't think I'll need many sweatshirts in Florida."

I laughed at the last part. "Yeah I think that's true."

We packed for about 30 minutes then we ate dinner as a family of four for the last time.

"I'm really going to miss this when you leave Mason." I said getting tears in my eyes.

Mason grabbed my hand then spoke up, "I'm going to miss it to but every chance I get I'll come down here and visit."

"I know but still."

"It will go by quick and besides we are going for our dreams. Your going to do photography and I'm going for baseball and hopefully going into the MLB. It will all be worth it trust me."

I just nodded. Mason kissed me then we went
back to eating dinner. Right after dinner I drove Mason to the airport my dad came with me to make sure I was okay. I was not ready for this.

We got out then I hugged Mason. "I don't want you to go, please don't." I said crying.

"I have to go baby, I don't want to leave you either but I have to." He replied tears coming out of his eyes.

"I know you do. Go get into the MLB. Go chase your dreams."

"I will, you go chase your dreams. Remember I'm going to be traveling a lot."

"I know so tell me when you land every plane ride and also text me after you land today."

"I will. I have to go now."

I nodded then said, "Goodbye I love you so much."

"I love you so much too I'll text you when I land."

We kissed then Mason gave my dad a man hug.

"You take care of my girl please." Mason said to my dad.

"I will."

Mason gave me one more kiss then walked away. I got into the passenger side in my white jeep that my dad got me not to long ago. He drove to my house while I had tears falling from my eyes looking out the window.

We got home then I went straight to my room and put Mason's sweatshirt on. I laid in bed tears falling out of my eyes.

After a while my dad walked in. I was still in the same position I was earlier just not crying anymore. I did still have stains on my cheeks from crying. He sat on my bed.

"Hey it's been about a hour and it's getting late. You have school tomorrow so you should probably get ready for bed." He said in a soft tone.

"I know it's just he's gone and I won't see him for a while." I said while putting my head in is lap.
