A couple months went by. Now it was a year and eleven months and a few days from when the game had started. Laughing Coffin was recently captured in a massive assault on their base. The only remaining threats to Aincrad and the innocent players trapped in the game were now just Shigaraki and his second in command Kurogiri. The Musatafu Guild was tirelessly searching for them, even going so far as to commission wanted posters.
Any two bit overconfident solo player would typically look at the poster, take the job, and all too often a notification that the player was eliminated would come across. Even through those notifications, they still didn't give up on trying to locate them. It only increased their resolve. It went so far as they even allied themselves to the Knights of the Blood Oath to find them. Now with basically an army helping them hunt down the last threatening players, they knew that sooner or later they'd find the last GoV members.
Finally, they got the news they were waiting for. And it came from the Black Swordsman and his... special... friend. They had recently come from floor 57 looking for the two villains. When they came into their HQ, the members were hopeful.
"We finally found them," Kirito said, "they're in an elaborate dungeon."
"You're certain?" Iida asked.
"We saw All For One and Kurogiri enter it," Asuna said, "but understand something: there were weird growls from deep within the dungeon. Either they have their own minions, or they have a bloodthirsty army with them. We could actually hear the growling from almost a half kilometer away."
"Thanks for the heads up," Bakugo said.
They were given money for the information. Once the two left them, the guild members began to prepare for battle. They made sure they had ample healing crystals in their storage. They all then journeyed to the warp gate.
"Are we ready?" Iida asked.
Everyone stated they were. They then teleported to the floor 57 gate. They split off into pairs to look for where the dungeon could be. Todoroki and Yaoyorozu checked the main floor dungeon, but didn't hear any form of low growling anywhere close to it. Kaminari and Jiro went to where one of the uncleared secret dungeons. Also no luck. The dungeon Kirishima and Ashido went to had some murmuring inside, but not growling. Iida and Hatsume couldn't even find where any of the dungeons were. Midoriya and Uraraka had decided to try asking around the town. Bakugo was the one who had luck finding it. Far to the south in a cave system.
After letting everyone know through private messaging, they all got to his location. Just like Asuna had said, they heard growling. And the growling didn't sound like any monster they had encountered in the game. It sounded like a mix of a dragon, bear, and orc. It was an inhuman growl. They all prepared themselves to enter the dungeon. They began walking through, weapons in hand, and for those who only had one weapon, in their other hands were illumination crystals. The deeper through the dark caves they went, the louder the growling got. When they were near the back of the cave system the growling was loudest. Without warning the room lit up. The room itself looked like a giant antechamber. Chained to the walls were eleven bizarre monsters.
"What the Hell is this?" Bakugo asked.
"One of the many projects of the Guild of Villains," they heard Shigaraki say from the opposite side of the room. Standing next to him was Kurogiri, "coding our own monsters, specially created to mindlessly destroy until all HP is depleted."
The creatures' chains fell off them and they began ambling their way toward the exit.
"My beautiful creations: my Nomu," Shigaraki said.
Bakugo attacked one and everyone saw his cursor turn orange.
"Bakugo, don't!" Kirishima shouted, "Something's not right!"
"What are you talking about, Shitty Hair?!" Bakugo asked, "These are monsters that need to be destroyed!"
"Your cursor turned orange, Kacchan! It's like you attacked a person!" Midoriya said.
"What?!"
It was then they finally looked over the Nomu and saw cursors. Six of them were red, the others were green or orange.
"What is this?" Yaoyorozu asked.
"I'm glad you noticed. I'll give you one guess," Shigaraki said.
"These aren't real monsters. You've just somehow changed players to become these!" Yaoyorozu said, blocking a fist from a red nomu with a shield.
"Yes, and no. What they are is a combination of living armor, and forces perspective. The Nomu have people inside them, but they're powerless to not do anything that I want them to. Think of this as an in and out of body experience. They can't control their actions, but if you kill them... you'll be red players."
The eleven stood blocking the entrance as they tried to figure out how to stop the Nomu and not kill them. They had relatively the same idea. They got into their inventory and pulled out paralyzing crystals. They then used them on the Nomu. After they were used, the Nomu took three steps and fell, paralyzed. Shigaraki began growling into a scream of rage. It was the one thing that Kurogiri had told him would be a good idea to do for the Nomu, but because he believed the eleven hadn't gotten any of their paralytic crystals, he didn't add immunity.
"KUROGIRI, GET OUR OTHER FRIENDS TO KILL THEM!!!" he screamed.
Kurogiri used a corridor crystal to bring an army of goblins, orcs, ogres, and golems into the cave. The eleven readied their weapons and charged into the fray. Kirishima and Ashido fought side by side, Kirishima dealing with all of the up close enemies and Ashido dealing with those just slightly out of reach. Kaminari and Jiro were back to back when they got into the thick of it, both parrying and striking all the enemies they could. Yaoyorozu and Todoroki fought carving their way through all the enemies they could. Iida and Hatsume were dispatching enemies, Iida gracefully with his blue saber, and Hatsume gracelessly with her war hammer. Bakugo was carving up enemies quickly with his scimitar. Uraraka and Midoriya were back to back, cautious about where their strikes were landing.
After several minutes, the eleven were tired, but there weren't any more creatures living that weren't Nomu. If Shigaraki was furious before, they couldn't describe just how livid he was now.
"Kurogiri... kill a couple of the Nomu." Shigaraki said, quietly.
With extreme speed, Kurogiri pulled out corridor crystals, activated them, and cut off the Nomu heads. The guild mates were all horrified at what they saw him very coldly, very mercilessly do.
"Give the remaining Nomu cure crystals."
He pulled out more corridor crystals and cured the remaining Nomu of their paralyzation. The Nomu rose from the ground.
"Now... kill those kids."
Kaminari activated his skill, lightning fast, and zipped over to Kurogiri and back. Just before Kurogiri could get a warp crystal, his hands were cut off. Kaminari was panting heavily. Shigaraki shouted the same orders to the Nomu. The nine remaining Nomu charged nine of the guild members.
"SHIGARAKI!!!" Midoriya shouted, charging him.
Shigaraki grinned at the foolish child that was daring to charge at him. He drew his sword, waiting for the perfect opportunity to kill one of the kids who had been a consistent thorn in his side.
So... this is a few days later than I wanted it to be.
