Xiao x Aether One Shots

I don't even recognize you anymore

~Liyue Harbour~

Aether pov:

More and more people asking for me to do even the smallest things such as giving someone a letter to some for them, yet I still have no more information about where my twin sister could possibly be. As I was walking through liyue Harbour lost in thought I realized I haven't finished today's commissions, great it's 19:56 and I've only complete 2 commissions whatever it's fine. The 3rd commission was to defeat a geovishap, oh dear archons why am I doing this, oh wait I'm doing this for my twin who left after she could have came back with new to go home.

Aether pov:

While I was fighting the geovishap I couldn't help but feel as if I was watched, I couldn't care less anymore and I just said "whoever or whatever is there just fvck off kindly, thanks", I soon enough found that I was becoming more cold, more like Xiao. I killed the geovishap and started heading off only to realize that the person that was watching me was no one else then.. Xiao..? As I walked past I quickly asked " two questions, why are you here this late it's 23:41 and why where you just starring at me, if you want you can take a picture, it'll last longer" Xiao seemed stunned as I said that, at this point I didn't care if he would be mad or not, and with that I started heading to my last commission, until he grabbed my wrist clearly not letting go any time soon. "What the hell happend to you traveler and where are you going?" He asked me. "None of your business and also none of your business." All that made him do is tighten his grip on my wrist and question further. "Alright alright I'll answer your pointless questions if that will make you let go off my wrist", " one I'm tired of almost eeveryone using me, and two I'm heading to do another commission." I bluntly said with a tiny hint of anoyyance in my voice. "Listen traveler, I may not be good at comfort and all but if you need to talk to someone I'm always here, if you ever need me just call out my name, adept us Xiao." I simply nodded as he let go off my wrist.

~outside of the inn~

Aether pov:

The last commission was in a quit convenient spot it was almost right outside the inn, it could most likely be soon from the roof and the balcony, all I had to do is kill some hilichurls but after doing so three large hilichurls and two abyss mages showed up 'great'  I thought to myself as I begun to battle. After killing two large hilichurls and an abusive mage I realized that they're Corpses weren't disappearing, they just lied there lifeless and covered in blood. Before I knew it I realized that I got hit in the leg by the large hilichurls axe and I got hit in the arm by a pyro abyss mage, the last thing I remember is passing out due to exhaustion and pain, as I fell I wished that I would never wake up again.

Xiao pov:

I was just on the balcony as I saw someone fight at one in the morning again several enemies, they where doing surprisingly well so I decided to just watch, until I saw the person fall to the ground, I quickly teleported to the scene and realized it was Aether. The scene looked horrifying everything was covered in blood, I finished off the enemies and teleported us to my room that I stay at. To be honest I've been really worried about traveler, he clearly hasn't been taking care of himself at all and he was becoming more like... Me..?
All he does is help others with no help in return, he has even stopped caring about what others think about him. The moment we became a slight bit closer I decided to make a promise to myself of keeping Aether safe, clearly I've broken that promise too many times to count. I've come to realize that no one is ever there for him and I know how that feels, but at ye same time I have my da- I mean zhongli, but ever since Aether started to visit me everyday I felt nite at peace and I felt more understood then I could have ever imagined. I decided to try and be there for Aether from now on and try to help him because I can't even recognize who he is at this point. Suddenly I hear him move around with an uncomfortable look on his face, I've come to a conclusion that whenever he is in this state he has a nightmare but whenever that happens I tend to leave incase I scare the boy even more with my presence, but his time I decided to stay and try to comfort him as well as I could.

Aether pov:

I opened my eyes just to see a short figure at first I got even more scared then I was already but quickly realized it was Xiao and sighed in relief, I was still shaking and in the verge of crying, I tried to hide it to the best if my abilities, which works 99.9%, or at least I thought until I realized no one gave a living shit about me. I saw Xiao move closer, and closer to me, until I realized I was already crying, then I felt someone's arms wrapped around my back and before I knew it I was being hugged by Xiao I quickly hugged back, putting my head in his shoulder as I cried and dug my nails into his back not as much to hurt or to cause pain to the short boy that was hugging me, but deep enough for Xiao to realize just in hoe much pain Aether really was. Xiao began to sroke my hair and whispered reassuring words. Honestly I couldnt be more greatful for having someone like this in my life, even though he doesn't know my true feelings towards him, it doesn't matter being this close to the adepti was a miracle that only I received, it was a miracle that I need more in my life then anything else. After I stopped crying we decided to give to sleep I was hesitant at first due to the nightmare I just 'got over', clearly Xiao could read the worry if off my face as if it was letter written on a sheet of paper. As we got into to bed he pulled me close in a warm, reassuring and a hopefully never ending hug until we fell asleep.
