Chapter 7: Aftermath

Brianna saw Anthony parked outside the house. She ran into the car. She sat in her car seat snd cried.

"Bri it's okay let it out." Anthony soothed her. He remembered he had water bottles in the car. He reached to the backseat and handed her a water.

"Thanks." She took it and tried opening the plastic bottle. She had long nails in so she struggled to open it.

"I gotchu mija." He opened the bottle and handed it to her. Through her tear, she still thanked him. It broke Anthony's heart. She wasn't just crying. She was sobbing terribly. It was like the world was ending, at least for her it was.

She pulled her hair erratically because she needed something to drain her senses. Anthony decided to wait a few moments before driving because she was in an uncontrollable state.

"Take some deep breaths okay." She started to slow her breathing and it calmed her down.

"You're okay." Anthony reassured her. "Did you eat?"

She shook her head. " Well my dinner didn't work out so maybe we can stop by somewhere."

"Do you like tacos or tamales?"

"Yeah."

"I know a guy down the street."

"Bet show me the way."

Anthony drove down the street and found the vendor. Brianna got tamals de pollo and Anthony got street tacos. They decided to eat in the car. By then Brianna seemed to calm down.

"How are you feeling?" He asked.

"I don't know." She shifted in the seat. Anthony noticed her movements and had a strange feeling about the party. He decided to talk about the party.

"So how was the party?"

"Fine."

"Didn't you say it was a cookout?"

"It was but I didn't eat."

"Hm." Anthony didn't want to pry but felt like something was up. She acted like him when he used to get in trouble as a kid. He decided to ask if anything happened that triggered her emotions.

"I'm just asking but did anything else happen beside you missing your mom?"

Brianna's eyes widen.

"Kinda. It's kinda a long story. I just really want my mom right now." She sniffled.

"Bri I know, but she's here in spirit. Your emotions are valid, sweetie."

"Well if she was here she would be mad."

"Don't say that she still loves you in heaven."

She started to sob again. Anthony wanted to cry with her.

"Let's drive back home okay."

He drove home within 3 minutes. He realized what he was coming home to. Boy what a night. He took a deep breath and decided he would never go in that landry room ever again.

He walked in to see Jasmine in her pajama's with Nala on her lap.

Jasmine saw Brianna with her cute outfit ruined with hot sauces and mascara stained eyes.

"Baby." She came over and hugged her. For the next few minutes, Jasmine, Anthony and Brianna sat on the couch as she let her emotions out.

"Why don't you go change into pajamas?" Jasmine suggested.
