The baby came out into my arms, and I lost it. I couldn't stay with Mary. It would kill her, but I had to be honest.

Just not now.

"It's a girl. Kayla Ann Watson."

Mary started crying too. Even Sherlock, who stood at Mary's head, shed a tear.

TWO DAYS LATER.

Mary hadn't wanted to leave, so we stayed at Sherlock's. Mary hadn't brought up the Incident, but I had to do it now, or I never would.

"Mary, pretending nothing ever happened isn't fair to you. You're going to hate me, but I want a divorce."

She just looks stunned. And then slaps me. "I deserved that," I say rubbing my cheek. "I'm sorry. But it's not fair to you to go on pretending. I hope we can still be friends."

"Friends? This isn't some Uni crush! This is Marriage! You can't just split up and expect to be friends. I may not love you, but I won't be cruel." He voice is softer.

"I'll still let you see Kayla."

"Thank you! Thank you! So, what do we do now?"

"You haven't been married long, so you could get an annulment." Sherlock pipes up. "But you have a kid, so that's impossible. I say go to the Judge, split everything down the middle, easy-peasy lemon squeezey. Did I just say that? Never let me say that again John." He walks away.

"So, do you want split Kayla every other week? At least for now?"

"Fine. But I get her first." She gets up to leave, and puts Kayla in her car seat.

"Do you want a ride?"

"No. It's not far. We'll walk. Goodbye, Sherlock. Goodbye John." And she leaves.

"Now back to what we started earlier," I say walking over to Sherlock, who's stretched out on the couch. I reach down and kiss him, and kiss him, and kiss him.
