The freezing rain started early in the morning. It was cold and dark outside. It was one of those days where you would honestly prefer staying home and watching movies all day. Curled up with a nice blanket and in your comfiest clothes.

Noel's parents didn't see him very often, because he was normally very busy with work. His parents were very wealthy, but had become very materialistic. Noel was not a fan of their lifestyle, he tried to avoid spending a lot of time with them because it was bad for his mental health. He always felt much worse when he spent time with them. His parents had invited him over for brunch that day because they want to talk about their new neighbour's daughter. Apparently they thought the two of them would be "perfect together". Noel just don't know how to tell them that it is most definitely not going to work out, because he was in love with another woman. The only issue being that he was fairly certain that she hated him. She was also already spoken for, she wa Shawn's girl. Shawn was his best friend. They had been best friends for their whole lives. Noel wasn't about to end a friendship for a woman that wouldn't give him the time of day.

Shawn texted Noel Hey man! Want to come up to the cottage for a few nights? Gracie and I want to have a hockey game and party tomorrow.

Yes! Noel texted back. This was exactly the excuse he needed to call off meeting with his parents.
