Frankly, Gracie was on the fence about the whole promotion.

She was gifted and talented - yes, but this summer was supposed to be their summer. Sure the pay raise would be nice, but it's not like she needed the money. Besides they fought so hard to get to where they were, she didn't want to jeopardize the whole thing.

"Gracie you cannot pass up this opportunity for a boy," her best friend Mandy said when she mentioned thinking about turning down the job.

"Why not? We've fought so hard. Noel has sacrificed so much for me already, I owe it to him," said Gracie.

"Sacrificed?! What has he sacrificed for you?!" Mandy cried.

"He ended his friendship with Shawn, remember Shawn?! My ex and Noel's best friend since they were kids," Gracie said.

"Whatever, just promise me you won't make a decision without really weighing your options," said Mandy.

"Fine. I promise," Gracie said with an eye roll and chuckle.

The thing was, Gracie already thought about it. She did not want to jeopardize her relationship with Noel. Taking this promotion would definitely change their relationship, she would be his boss. This was supposed to be his job, not hers. Gracie could only think about how much hatred Noel would harbour towards her if she took the promotion.
