Later on in the week (Thursday) they announced the first game of the season was going to be tonight. It was nice to have something to do to keep my mind away from things, Dean had been giving Nik death glares every time we were together.

I was talking to Nik about it in creative writing and he said he would love to go. Yay, basketball game here we come!

I paid our way into the game because it was only like five dollars. I dragged Nik over to the student section and we took a seat.

I was looking at the people settled around the gym when I noticed one of the greatest, and coolest, players on our team.

It was Altair of course!

He truly was an amazing player though. Far better than the so called jock, Austin. He wasn't even that good.

I'm not saying Austin is an awful person, he sits behind me in creative writing and a few other classes.

I really do wish Al got more credit for his abilities though.

"Stephanie, pay attention, the game is starting!"

Alexis sat on the other side of me. "Well hello to you too Alexis! I was thinking."

"It looked like you were staring at Al over there, do you like him?" She started nudging me with her elbow.

I blushed immensely, then I noticed Nik get up and mumble something about fresh air. "Alexis! You know he's just my friend, and you also know I like another certain someone who you probably upset!"

"Yes I know, I was kidding! And you can't have him anyway...But just think, why would he get upset if he didn't like you back?"

Wait, that's a good question. Nik.

As I stood up I saw Al make a shot, but I can't think about that now. "Go Al!" I shouted out quickly.

He turned his head and I smiled to him with a small wave before I turned back to Alexis. "I'm sorry, I gotta go find Nik. Cheer for Al for me!"

"Okay. Now go get him." I saw her start to stare at Al with a dazed expression. I can't think about that now either.

I rushed down the bleachers not really caring about how I looked.

I had to find Nik.
