We tumble out into the hall and excitement sparks the air.

My keys jangle and I lock the door securely behind me.

My keys, my bag, my phone, my friend, all check.

A light touch on the cool screen and my fingers float for a moment.

"Mina? What's wrong?" Miyu looks over at me. 

I smile with a "I'm fine" and race her to the end of the dim hallway

Push open the door to the stairwell

And feel the sunlight hit full force.

I squint in the bright light and shade my face with my hand.

The sky is as piercingly blue as it can get.

Without a cloud in the sky.
