We whisk ourselves onto the train
Just in time before the doors close behind us
Nearly nipping our skirts, the tassels on the charms hanging from our bags.
And hurriedly grab onto the rail or the handles
To steady ourselves
Before the train lurches forward with a groan.
The seats are packed.
"How many more stations?"
I anxiously turn my head to Miyu with a whisper.
Her eyes are on her phone, checking the time and distance
Until we arrive.
She's one step ahead of my question.
"Six."
We both know but we're both too excited. Double checking, triple checking.
